The Myer-Optix Gorletz Trioplan 100mm f2.8 is a unique lens that can't be compared to the lenses mentioned above. B and H is currently selling it at $999 US. It is 'in stock' in several mounts. However, the Pentax K mount appears to be 'special order'. If you want razor sharp, then you don't want the Trioplan. If you want close focusing, then you don't want the Trioplan. This lens is known for its 'vintage' look, and 'soap bubble' bokeh. It is a specialty lens that is about as far from the D FA 100 f2.8 macro or the Zeiss ZK 100 f2 as you can get. (BTW, somebody is dreaming if he thinks a ZK 100 f2 can be had for $999 US.) I am ordering mine in Nikon F mount (rather than Pentax K) because should I decide at some point to sell it there will be a greater market. BTW, according to their website this Myer-Optik Gorlitz lens is manufactured in Germany--not China.

OK, I haven't read all the posts in this thread. But I'll still add my two cents.
When the Xpro 1 first came out, I dumped my Pentax dslrs and most (but not all) of my K mount lenses.
I shot the Xpro 1 up until six months ago. (I went through five different lenses and all available accessories.) I have now sold my enitre Fuji system except for my x100 (original).
Why did I dump Fuji? (1) It is true that Fuji overstates ISO by close to a stop; (2) Fuji cooks its raw files by applying heavy NR; (3) The X-trans sensor, I have concluded, has been little more than a marketing scam. The Xtrans CFA adds nothing, but creates all sorts of problems--at least for most raw processors. And Fuji jpegs are famous for smearing skin-tones at even moderate ISOs.
Fuji provides great ergonomics and fantastic (but not cheap) glass. Still, the system is greatly overrated IMO.
I have gone entirely over to Nikon FF while my wife (also a Fuji user) now uses the Sony A7s as her primary camera. I still shoot Pentax film cameras and my K mount lenses (FA limiteds, Zeiss, and Voigtlander) are fantastic on the A7s (when my wife lets me use it).
Pentax (K5ii, iis, and K3) users should think twice about dumping their equipment for a Fuji system as there is nothing to be gained in terms of image quality.

My experience has been quite different. I just purchased a Sony A7S for my wife. While I have dumped my Pentax dslrs, I have kept the following for my film cameras: 43mm ltd, 77mm ltd., 85mm Zeiss zk, 180mm f4 Voigtlander.
These lenses all focus *beautifully* on the A7s. In fact, the 85mm Zeiss zk has given me (her) the best shots ever with this camera. This lens, which suffers from focus shift, is a very difficult beast on a dslr. However, the Sony with its stopped down focusing completely eliminates the problem. I use yellow focus peaking and go to magnified focus (second level) and get dead-on focus--even at f1.4-- in 90% of my shots. The 77mm ltd. focuses with equal ease and precision, but gives an even higher rate of keepers.
While it is generally true that lenses other than those native to a given camera will perform less well than those designed for that camera (certainly this was the case when I used my Pentax lenses on my Fuji Xpro 1), the Sony A7S has proved to be the exception.
If you have a large stable of K mount glass but yearn for full-frame (and you don't mind mirrorless), you should give one of the A7 cameras a try.

I too finally gave up on the dream of a Pentax full-frame this past year However, I was heavily invested in K-mount glass, and it did take a while to sell off my lenses. (I still have a few for my film cameras.)
My full frame solution was the Nikon Df--an expensive option, but one I do not at all regret. And, though I got flamed for saying this last year, I still think that the full-frame bargain out there is the Nikon D600.
The 'shutter-dust' problem was, I believe, greatly overblown. (Lots of folks said they never experienced this problem.) And Nikon is now replacing the shutter in the D600 at no cost. You can still find a new one for around $1400 to $1500.
Nikon lenses? I buy 'imports' from Adorama and B & H. They represent, to my thinking, a tremendous value.
I would agree that--in the world of APS-C--the recent Pentax cameras (K5-iis and K3) are probably the best available. But these are still cropped sensor cameras.
Some people don't need what a full-frame sensor offers. But if your are one of those whose photography would benefit, I encourage you to take the leap.

Hmmm... I'm still amazed that I was able to get a camera with a D4 sensor in a body half the size/weight of the D4 for less than half the price. "Nostalgia" design or not--this camera represents, to my thinking, a good value.
By the way, when was the last time you missed a shot because you did not have at your disposal a 1/8000th shutter speed?

Hello Spade-
Regarding the Zeiss ZKs: I thoroughly enjoyed the Zeiss lenses on my Pentax cameras. At one time I had four of them, the 18mm, the 35mm, the 85mm, and the 100mm. I have sold all except the 85mm f1.4 (my favourite). I also owned all three of the FA limiteds. I sold the 31mm (but I still have the other two).
I greatly preferred the Zeiss 35mm f2 over the 31mm FA limited. It was sharper, with better colour saturation and micro contrast. However..... it is a fairly large lens; and it is heavy. (And, of course, it's manual focus.) My initial plan was to take the proceeds from the Zeiss 35 ZK and purchase the Nikon version. (I still might do this.) I might also purchase at some point the Zeiss 100mm in Nikon mount. However... I have been so happy with the results the Nikkors are providing that I might not walk down the Zeiss path for some time.
I have to admit that I am enjoying the fast and precise autofocus capabilites of the Df with Nikkors. And, though I'm still in 'honeymoon' phase with my three Nikkor lenses, I don't really think that the Zeiss have much (other than build quality) over them. The 135 f2DC is probably the finest portrait lens I have ever used. The 85mm f1.8 is a sharper lens than my Zeiss 85 f1.4 (a difficult lens to use because of focus shift), and the exotic 50mm f1.2 is.. well... a lens that provides a rendering that is unique. (This is, like the Zeiss 85mm, a demanding lens to focus accurately.)
A 35mm lens will be my next purchase. And my choice is to spend $1,000 (plus) for the Zeiss or around $350 for the Nikon 35 f2 D. (I don't want or need a large--and expensive--f1.4 wide angle.) Given my results with the 85mm D lens, I leaning heavily towards getting the auto-focus 35 D. For my purposes, it will be--though not as good as the Zeiss--still, good enough.
In summary: Yes, the Zeiss lenses are of very high quality. But *if* they are optically superior to the Nikkors (some are, some aren't, I think) , it is only by a small amount. They are heavy, expensive, and manual focus only. (It is their build quality that is truly impressive.) I'll only be purchasing the Zeiss in those focal lengths that really matter to me.

I too am now the proud owner of a Nikon Df. I had the opportunity to test both a black and silver model with the 50mm kit lens, and an 85mm f1.8G some weeks back. I thought the camera handled beautifully, and I simply could not understand what all the fuss was about. (I was surprised too that I found the silver camera to be the more attractive--I usually prefer black models.) What did it for me, though, was when I took my SD card home and opened up the files. I was simply blown away. This , I thought, was the 'look' I have been searching for (unsuccessfully) with both my Pentax and Fuji aps-c cameras.
I have now sold off two more K mount lenses (a Zeiss 35 f2 ZK, and a Zeiss 100mm f2 ZK), and I'm not looking back. I have purchased for my Df a 135 f2 DC, a 50mm f1.2 ais, and an 85mm f1.8 D. (All have aperture rings!). I am very pleased with the fast focusing of the 135mm and the 85mm; and the 50mm has shown itself to be the 'master of the night' on the Df. Focusing this lens (the 50mm) accurately does, however, require that I rely on the focus confirmation light; but this is much less of an issue than I thought it would be. With the purchase of a 35mm (I'm probably going for the f2 D), my Df kit will be complete. (For now anyway.)
I have kept a small stable of K mount lenses to use on my Pentax film cameras (and my Fuji Xpro 1). However, I have forgotten my (long standing) dream of a full frame Pentax. I don't believe that Pentax could--for my taste--do it any better than the Df. Even if Pentax came up with a a beautifully designed body there would be the question of the sensor. I doubt that a Pentax ff would have a sensor that could better meet my needs than the D4/Df sensor. The Nikon Df is, I must say, close to being my 'dream camera'.
I'm also thinking about selling off some of my Fuji kit. The difference in size between the Xpro 1 and the Df isn't all that great. And I could see myself having as a travel camera just an X100s while using my Df for 'serious work'. I'll wait a bit to see just how much action the Fuji gets now that I have the Df.
I have a long standing (thirty years) relationship with Pentax cameras (and I still shoot with my MXs), but the Nikon Df has 'swept me off my photographic feet'

I think most (though certainly not all) of the folks who purchase Leica digital cameras do so because they are already invested in Leica glass. And I suspect that most (though not all) still shoot some film. An M9 or M240 is for them he most logical way to utilize their (superb) lenses.
Leica shooters tend to be (though many are not) passionate about photography and committed to the "rangefinder experience". The outlay on photo gear seems to them not that extreme at all.
If you think this kind expenditure is irrational (at least for those of ordinary means) you might want to talk to the wife of a bass fisherman.

Tuco is exactly right. I have seen images produced by this lens. They are stunning. This is a specialty lens--designed for a specific purpose. I am happy to see that Nikon has developed such a lens--a lens that is concerned with 'character' and 'drawing' as much as resolving power. However, I do think that for this price they could have given us a bit better construction.

This Carl Zeiss 100mm f2 Makro-Planar ZK is as close to new as you are likely to find. The lens is in absolutely pristine condition--no marks with perfect glass. All original materials, box, cards, caps, wrappers etc are included. The lens has seen very little use.
This lens is in Pentax K mount. It is the rarest of the Zeiss ZK lenses. Few were made; and it probably never will be made again. The lens is chipped (providing full Exif data) and will work on all Pentax dslrs and K mount film cameras.

Those of you who are interested in this lens likely already know about it. It is the native Zeiss Pentax ZK mount (discontinued) that is fully chipped for all Pentax dslrs. It is "as new" with all caps, hood, papers, box etc. It has seen minimal time on the camera (fewer than fifty actuations) and is in absolutely pristine condition. No marks, no scratches--nothing.
As for performance: I owned both this lens and the highly regarded 31mm ltd. (I have already sold that lens.) In my view, this lens blows the 31mm ltd out of the water. it out resolves it, has better micro contrast, and it has that saturated Zeiss colour. (This is an outstanding example of this lens.) Its only liability (for some) is its lack of auto-focus.
If you want a lens with a 'normal' fov (on aps-c sensors) that can actually take advantage of your K-3' (or A7's) resolving power, this is it. And remember: these are no longer made, there are few out there, and they'll likely never be made again.

As someone who has dumped his Pentax dsrs in favor of Fuji, I would offer the following comments:
Fuji--with its through the viewfinder focus peaking--allows for far more precise focusing with my manual focus K-mount lenses than I ever could achieve with either my K-7 or K-5. (I still own three Zeiss K-mount lenses, one Voigtlander, and two M lenses.)
Fuji has a 'signature' look that other cameras can not duplicate. The 'Fuji look' is a largely a result of its unorthodox sensor design. However, its color/film presets are also part of this. This look is not to everyone's liking, to be sure. But it appeals to many, and it does set the Fuji X-trans cameras apart from the rest.
The Fuji's resolution is easily equal to that of the K-5iis. (And not far behind the K-3.) However, from what I've been able to see on line, the Fuji may have the edge over *all* Pentax models in terms of high ISO/low noise.
The Fuji is much lighter than the top of the line Pentax cameras. This bothered me at first; however, I now see it as an advantage.
As someone who has owned (and still owns) some of the best Pentax glass ever made (the FA limiteds), I must say that Fuji beats Pentax hands down in this area. While I love both my 77mm and 43mm ltds (I sold my 31mm), my native Fuji glass (I own the 23, the 35, and the 60, with the 56 f1.2 on order), offers, to my eye, superior contrast and resolution to anything Pentax currently offers.
And, while it is a very personal thing, I much prefer the handling of the Fuji Xpro-1 over any Pentax dslr. (I find the Fujis 'knobs and dials' to be much more intuitive.)
Where does Pentax have the edge? Auto-focusing, weather sealing, and in camera shake-reduction to name a few areas Then there is the fact of the penta-prism viewfinder. However, the new Fuji XT-1 will have weather sealing; the auto-focusing system--while not up to the standards of Nikon and Canon dslrs--should not be too far behind Pentax (never known for its auto-focusing capabilities). So that makes (at least to my thinking) the trump card for Pentax its in-body SR. For some, the fact that Pentax provides a pentaprism 'real world' view is something that will always give it the edge. However, the Xpro 1 and the X100s doe offer an optical viewfinder in addition to the EVF.
I am not saying that Pentax dslrs aren't good cameras--they are VERY GOOD cameras. (In fact, I am sorely tempted to pick up a K-5iis at its current discount price.) And depending on the kind of shooting one does, it may be the best choice out there.
However, the Fuji X system far better serves my photographic needs than does Pentax. I am hanging on to my K mount glass because I still shoot a lot of film with my Pentax film bodies (and in hopes that Pentax comes up with a full-frame offering some day).
Still I hope that some folks who comment on this board would recognize the fact that Pentax cameras are--like Fuj cameras--for a certain type of shooter. "Horses for courses", as they say.
Every camera system is a trade-off; and this is something that is too often forgotten here.

Just to offer a different view: I shot with both a black and silver Df last week. I had the 50mm kit lens and an 85mm f1.8 at my disposal. My reactions? I found this to be (a) an extremely handsome camera--to my thinking, the best looking dslr on the market today; (b) I found the silver body--contrary to the posts here and elsewhere--not "cheap looking" at all; I actually prefer it to the black. (c) the camera handled beautifully--in fact, to my hand's better than the under sized Pentax bodies of recent years; and (d) image quality was superb.
My only problem with this camera was with its manual focusing. It was difficult and I had to rely upon the focus indicator to know when I had hit the mark. Still, I find this the most attractive of the current dslrs on the market (even at $2,750). Whether or not I purchase a Df depends on several other factors. Most significantly, I want to see how the Sony A7 feels in hand and how it performs with non-native glass (like my Zeiss ZK lenses).
