Help finding first flash

The godox is about half the weight and size of the Metz 48. The metz does make the camera feel top heavy. So I would question, do I need that extra power or happier with a lighter weight more handier combination.

GODOX TT350 auto range not operating

I sent a service request to Godox 48 hours ago. 48 hours is long enough to answer even just saying received your email. I expect a company to perform better than this. I also posted a poor review as the product should not have been issued with this problem. The company who sold it have asked for reasons of the low rating. Being a Godox supplier I hope they will gee up Godox to clear the problem.

Unfortunately, from past experience, once a company has printed the manuals, they seem very very reluctant to change the way the object operates. I do not expect anything new to happen.

GODOX TT350 auto range not operating

Had a thought about the zoom value being displayed. When manual 'M' is displayed along with the zoom value. They could have omitted the 'M' when it is auto and displayed the zoom value. So, no 'M' the zoom value being displayed is the current auto zoom value. The interface could be the same, that is show 'au' to set the zoom mode, then as it is accepted the 'au' changes to the zoom value. Not difficult to do, they did not give it enough thought.

Unfortunately no, under manual it shows what you have selected. But for auto it continuously says 'au'. A small down point for the product.

Des, thanks for doing the tests. Now tried my 18-125mm sigma hsm. I can hear flash motor move as I slowly rotate the zoom range at 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 70mm. A change to 105mm does not happen. For me, there appears to be a problem with the auto zoom setting mechanism. If I go to manual, as I change the angle to the different settings, 14mm to 105mm, I can hear motor buzz at every point through the range. Have sent a report to GODOX, started to wait for a reply. Interesting you got the non response from the PLM.

Checking out new arrival, TT350. With my 55-300 PLM attached the auto size flash angle change does not work. I changed to my 18-55 and that works, can hear the flash zoom motor buzz. With either lens, in the viewfinder when flash switched on both show, lightning arrow. With the 55-300 I checked exif data to make sure lens is passing back data to the camera, as to the zoom position of the lens.

So, my assumption is that the flash is accepting the data from the 18-55, but ignoring data from the 55-300. My assumption may be wrong, anybody got any ideas? The flash is firmware v1.0, no updates available. GODOX claims my K-S2 is a supported camera. Have not tried their product support yet, will try that next if nothing of significance is forthcoming.

If REAR curtain flash better to use than normal

I did not know there was a pre flash, never seen one I suppose because it is so fast it just looks like one flash. Makes sense of how it has to operate, as the camera does not know what flashgun you have, what diffuser you are using, etc. So doing a sample first makes sense, thanks for the reply.

If REAR curtain flash better to use than normal

My knowledge of using a system flash is limited. But I take it that REAR allows the light then fires the flash at the end to top up the light to the correct exposure. Therefore is it correct the normal flash would fire for the correct exposure, then any ambient light would add the the exposure.

Does that mean that rear curtain flash is likely to give better exposure value ?

If you are worried about high voltage, power up the flash and measure the voltage between the ball contact and the base. Usually around 12v. I use a very old vivitar 2500 with my modern pentax with no problems.

Ni -Zn Batteries

After being continually disappointed with batteries. I tried the Ni - Zn batteries. They have a voltage of 1.8v of full charge, compared to Alkaline 1.65v when new. As 4 batteries are the norm, I did not expect the 0.6v extra on 6.6v would cause a problem. I have tried them in my Metz and Yongno flashes with good results.

The problem with the other batteries Ni MH is that their low voltage indicates to the electronics that the batteries are low on charge, even when they have barely been used. The batteries are just showing their normal low voltage, it does not indicate that they are low on charge. The Ni-ZN have worked for me.

Pentax KS2 fault - light/ISO

In the Uk, the warranty is usually 2 years , try your supplier even if it is out of warranty. How many shutter actuations has it done? Under UK sales law a product has to be of merchandisable quality. If you have 100,000 actuations, then pay up, but if about 10,000 then this premature failure should not happen.

used the interval timer to put a few thousand shots on the camera. fault now gone hard, no matter what lens I use. First shot under exposed, second shot OK. Sent it away for repair. Talks to Pentax have been a waste of time. Deny there is a problem.

Blank Picture - no data available

The lens that started showing the problem is a Samyang. I would not call the aperture lever stiff, but strongly spring assisted. So I changed to a lightweight kit lens 18-55mm. Left it for 12 hours, first picture OK. So now I am confused as to what I am seeing. Is it the Samyang, which I have used for several years. Or is it the precursor of the aperture problem, which the Samyang exacerbates?

K-S2 about 7000 accuations. Never seen this before any ideas? Is it part of the aperture solenoid problem? What happened was, changed to a different lens, first picture after non usage was blank picture with the INFO saying "no data available to display picture". After that no problem. Then it did the same thing again after first turn on. I took lens off and found the aperture lever stiff and a bit out of alignment. Straigened it up and so far no problems. Is this a precursor to something? any thoughts.

My Pentax wifi remote software

Ron, yesterday I checked on properties to see what my PC made of the Wifi link. It said 802.11n 65Mbits/sec. how the PC came up with the 65 value I do not know as no file had been transferred, so I expect it is some evaluation and thus prediction of what to expect. The fact it stays at 11Mbits/sec smells to be like it is sticking to only one channel. That is my guess based on numbers I remember old. To obtain faster performance then multiple channels have to be used. I do not have a strong knowledge of the details of Wifi.

From past experience, we will not be given an explanation from Pentax, Also there is a good possibility that for the 802 Pentax bought in a library and their knowledge/ability to change things may be limited. There may also be a hardware limitation, again I am well outside my comfort zone.

Does the throughput limit of about 1 M/Byte a sec apply to all models of camera. My K-S2 is about that, is the K1 the same? A doubling of performance would make file transfer more liveable.

When I first tested the K-S2, (I assume the K-S1 will be the same). I wanted to see how 'B' would be enebled without a cable. From memory. the IR acts like a toggle, first press to open, second press to close.
