Hi... was in the same predicament not more than 6 weeks ago. Luckily, I read up on wedding photography and also remembered my own wedding photographer. The couple I shot for were kind enough to nominate me as their 'man' , "the Photographer" for their 45th Wedding Anniversary. I charge free because they are my friends and we are in the same household. On the day, they wanted simple shots that could capture their day and being 'old school' they weren't too crash hot on getting pictorials done at the house, but I went for it at the Church and at the Reception. One thing I really took with me was an extra camera, with batteries, a flash with fully charged batteries and the energy to last the whole day. Mind you I did eat in between. It's a very different kind of exhaustion where I went home and didn't even utter many syllables with my wife.
Another thing I also took with me that I read in an article is, to take the shot that you see as it unfolds. And, take more. I saw angles in the ceremony where I would not normally get to see if I had just been a passive participant, sitting somewhere in the middle of the pews, yawning or having a quiet chat to someone. I also showed a friend the results of the photos on a DVD that I made up using a macbook and iDVD and iPhoto. My friend reckons there were some fantastic shots and that he couldn't stop looking at ot over and over again. He said, "if your friends aren't happy with that, I don't know what they would be happy with". So, I guess I did it to get some sort of feedback and positive correction. Get someone else to look at our photos. I also took good shots as to the best of my ability, because I used the light and took control of the angles and light available to me. I will post some up soon. I hope I have shed some light for you (excuse the pun, not intended) But I'm so glad we have this forum for like minded photographers. |

Just wondering if any Pentaxian out there living in the San Francisco (Concorde) or Grand Rapids, Michigan area, know of a good camera store that sells the K7? I'm heading over to the USA in the next couple of days for work and I want to drop by and see if I can get my hands on the K-7.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey Phill,
No offense taken. I'd like to think of myself too as a bit eccentric, which is why I went against the grain. I have a couple of friends, one who works with Canon and he is himslef a film SLR user, converted to DSLR but I didn't feel compfortable with Canon (I think the photocopier brand thing is what turns me off) , but I always felt Pentax was a solid camera brand - heck my Dad had one and it still works! I agree, it is a noble trait and I do love standing out from the CaNickonions too! One day I will post up my photos onto the gallery.... in due time.

Hey there John,
I just had a quick glance at your site. The photos are so beautiful. It's the type of photos I want to take and also take it to a business type situation. How long have you been doing this and what was your business plan? I've been a Pentaxian for over 3 years now, but only tonight (Sydney time) have I just joined this forum. What do you suggest to get into business / side business? Your suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Rommel

Hey John,
Glad to know there is a fellow Sydneysider on board. I've also just joined the forum and looking to get more information about this wonderful world of Pentaxia! What's your tool of choice? Maybe we should photo jam together some time. See you around.

Hi, fellow Pentaxians. Geez, I love saying that "Pentaxian"! I'm so glad that there are so many fellow like-minded Pentaxians who know what they are talking about. I got mind unconsciously - it was a K100D and I still have it. I only recently took a class to get to know my DLSR properly and when I finished, I was so fired up, so inspired. Does anyone else feel that way? I hope to meet up with some of you around the way.
