Is it awful that I enjoy reading about wedding photography horror stories? There are a few threads about the same over on photo.net. They're very addictive as stories themselves, especially when the photographer is also a decent writer. But I mainly read them for, as you mentioned, caution.

On the subject of wedding photojournalism: these days, it's a popular style amongst photographers in terms of a marketing buzzword. However, visit any of their online portfolios and you'll find that the majority feature and promote their posed work: the photography that more often than not looks to be emulating a small fashion or editorial shoot (but with uglier models).
On the subject of flash, on a few occasions I've had the opportunity to work with the main photographer from one of the top ten studios in Toronto. He does the posed work. He also does the candid work. I recall in one very bright church, he did not use flash. I also know that whenever lighting is subdued, he really pulls a 360 and sets up a huge studio strobe somewhere in the corner of the hall to either side of bride and groom, and just blasts that thing into anything white or neutral as a bounce. Repeatedly. Granted, the effect looks good for what it is, but I can't imagine it not being distracting. During receptions, he'll either continue to use the giant strobe, or slide a CTO filter onto his on-camera speed-light and bounce that off the ceiling for candids. His work is good, trendy, and sellable; I understand why he's one of the busiest studios in the city.
Then there is another photographer I recently saw in action as a guest at a wedding. He charges in the upper end as far as Toronto goes. He also has a very distinct style that I have not seen any other local photographer emulate—and it happens to be awful. The skin tones are almost always too cold. He uses some sort of software soft-focus filter on every image on his website (and the images I saw he took for my friends). And he Photochops everyone's skin to look like porcelain. Now porcelain-like skin works well as a metaphor in literature, but actually seeing it in an image is eerie. My friend complained about looking ghost-like in her engagement photos. Aside from his questionable post-processing aesthetic, this photographer also chooses to shoot almost everything with direct on-camera speed-light flash. Sometimes he adds off-camera flash to his repertoire, but it's always direct. During the end of the night, he managed to clear the dance floor by constantly firing his multiple strobes directly at the bride and groom while we were dancing. I'm assuming everyone fled because they couldn't tolerate the constant strobes and subsequent after-images in their eyes.

I had the privilege to shoot a wedding this weekend. Here's a sneak peek image taken under ambient light.
I'm personally a great big fan of wedding photojournalism. I refuse to use flash unless absolutely necessary (and I really stretch the definition of what is).

This is a great image with great colour, much like everyone else has already commented. So I'll critique your presentation: it's pretty bad. The browny-orange vignette you applied to the image is an odd colour and does anything but subtle. This photo also suffers from some rather extreme jpeg artifacts, something that you should be screening for before upload. What's the point of nice photo equipment if you turn the image into mush when displaying it?

I reckon it would be hard enforcing any such rule with regards to photography, especially since the camera field is completely optional, and since it's a film photograph. I bet I can even sneak one into the photo contest if I really wanted to, unless it specifies digital only shots. It's not like the metadata would confirm or deny anything except that I use a Nikon scanner. :P Not that I would, nor that I would win either...

I can list anything I want for the camera and the photo would remain unchanged. In fact, I could've taken this photo with any camera and it would remain unchanged. The film is the star here, not the box it was in.

These are some beautiful locations. That night shot is particularly nice. But if I may add a humble observation: your presentation is compromised by the thick blurry border currently in use.

I was walking around the University of Toronto campus last week and stumbled into Hart House. That old building has reminded me of Hogwarts Academy ever since 2004, when one day after lecture my friend Greg and I went to the gym there. He claimed it was like lifting weights at Hogwarts. But I wasn't there for the gym or the fond memories of the Harry Potter films, I went in to find a way into Soldiers’ Tower. Unfortunately, I was ultimately unsuccessful in reaching the Soldiers’ Tower via Hart House, but luck found me a great composition in the photo below. This lovely sitting area features a beautiful vaulted ceiling and pull out lists of the Board of Stewards and Committees for Hart House.

Saw this small statuette of Queen Elizabeth II in the storefront window of a Queen St. West store (a few blocks west of Spadina). This shot was taken using FujiFilm Superia 1600 film. It's very grainy. This particular roll was donated to me by a friend and fellow Pentax Forum member, Gooshin.

In all honesty, I hope you had a HUGE balance on your gift card, as this type of software is usually a waste of money. I think that the only features it excels at are simulating film looks. However, I've always had issue with such features, as they never tell you what what your input image should be for the results to be authentic.

I disagree with your wife.
No one takes a perfect photo every time. Some scenes aren't worth capturing. Some photos aren't worth keeping. This particular image is all over the place: it's over-cooked, it's too busy, there are too many different textures that do nothing but distract from each other, and the colours are neither here nor there.

This one had a bunch of pillows in the back. But I didn't take any photos of them for it wouldn't been redundant. I love the colour, although I don't think it came across correctly given the twilight. It's definitely not something you see every day.
