The flash sync up to the maximum speed of 1/80,000 second is interesting and not using HSS.
No doubt the reason behind the lower 27MP count to do the global shutter thing in full frame. I'd expect others will follow within a couple of years as processor gets faster and MP goes up a bit too.
I have sync'd old glass M3B flashbulbs up to the maximum 1/32,000 second on the Nikon Z9 here: Z9 shooting with flashbulbs. | Nikon Cafe The flashbulb has a longer burn time than electronic so it covers the sensor sweep. I've used flash powder too, but it gets too smokey after a few flashes and hard to find whomever was in the shot through the smoke indoors. Magnesium sparklers off it burns tiles and carpets too. Fun though! |

my understanding is that Pentax limits who they will spare parts to. So even if the OP could fix it he would be unlikely to have the parts

I'm going to leave this post in place, even if inclined to delete it, and quote what I just wrote in another thread.:
Typically a post as rude as this one might be deleted, and the poster receiving an infraction. You can reply to someone without being offensive, casting stones at them, or questioning their intelligence or motives. These are exactly the type of posts that beg for an in-kind response from the OP, followed by a string of more unpleasant distractions between you and him, maybe others as well, before moderators are forced to step in and someone ends up claiming we're being "unfair".
Don't be the guy that makes a thread unpleasant. Every member here deserves better. Your words did nothing to improve understanding or otherwise contribute to the forum. The post only serves as an example of how not to interact with your fellow forum members. If anyone else sees themselves in this please take note. Being the reason others no longer wish to take part in our discussions should not be tolerated and won't be.
To the membership at large: Anytime you believe a post to be overtly out-of-line please report it to the moderation team to deal with. We read every single report and will respond to you. By getting into a keyboard war with another it makes the thread messy, and more friendly members are discouraged from participating.

Remember that the f-stop number represents the ratio of the lens focal length to the diameter of the entrance pupil (diaphragm aperture), but the total amount of light entering depends on the area of the pupil. Assuming the pupil is circular (near enough, usually) that amount of light is therefore dependent on the square of the diameter, so you have to square the f-number to obtain a measure of the relative illumination.
Hence, f2, f2.8, f4, f5.6 when squared become 4, 8, 16, 32 etc. Obviously, the f-numbers are approximations in many cases.
Is that helpful?

In terms of Aperture, 1 stop from f8 is f5.6.
Best way is to look at a chart and remember them.
1.4 / 2 / 2.8 / 4 / 5.6 / 8 / 11 / 16 / 22 are the ones that matter .

The Crop factor to make any 36mp camera into a 25mp camera
The amount of light will determine the amount of noise
f2.8x 1.7x1.4x1.5= F10 with regard to DOF and the amount of light it can capture not F8
You are stuck to how much light you can put into your image by the opening of the lenses involved, because of the and that they share pretty much the same size of opening whatever FOV we crop to they will put the same amount of light thus the same amount of noise, the same DOF and so on.
Unless you can tell me how to put more light into an image without the lens focusing it I am all ears.

Very often, there are a number of popular beliefs in circles of camera users, about how everything being black or white.
- So there is the notion that depth of field have a finite depth, while in reality nothing is in perfect focus except at the plane of focus (assuming there is absolute zero field curvature)
- There is the notion that beyond a certain pixel pitch, sensor out-resolve lenses, while in reality no lens has a sharp contrast cutoff and some image details can be pulled at even 400 line pairs per mm, even with kit lenses
- There is the notion about how many mega pixels are enough for prints, while in reality human visual appreciation of details is non-linear (like a bell curve vs micro-contrast, perception being more sensitive to contrasts around 10 to 20 lp/mm, but tiny details still perceived beyond 300PPI)
- And there is the notion of perfect focus tracking! While is reality no servo system in the world can work without any residual error, or the bandwidth required would be infinite or it would be extremely slow.
Forget about anything being perfect. Instead, look at the overall relative performance between systems, some systems are overall better than others (and more expensive).

This is one I don't see too often: someone is selling their entire Pentax gear, and among other nice pieces of gear is the FA* 300mm F2.8. EUR 1500, item is in France (Greater Paris area). https://www.leboncoin.fr/image_son/2065853177.htm
A quick search of the lens database indicated to me that it seems a very good deal at this price and in what seems a good condition.
I have no affiliation with the seller, don't know them and can't vouch for them, but they have a good feedback on the classifieds website Leboncoin (leader in France).
Hope this can be of help to someone :)

Note for next time: this is not the expected behaviour when a Japanese person hands you their card - the ritual is expected to last several seconds looking at the card, (thanking and bowing a little depending on the giver's position are appreciated), and then respectfully sliding it somewhere safe when it won't get damaged.
It's even better if the receiving party also has a card of their own to share, but then the movement for a fluid exchange is quite tricky - I haven't quite mastered it yet :)
(I don't mean to be patronising, I've just learned that working for a Japanese company, although quite far from the camera business)

Yes the principal is the same as in Pentax-F AF 1.7x , you might need to prefocus the lens as the movement is limited.
The helicoid is a bit different mechanical movement / function , I have Fotodiox Pro PK - E adapter with helicoid - it gives you macro function the same as in my PKA Vivitar 2x MACRO Teleconverter.

I am not sure. The lens should be set to infinity. The focal length entered on the camera for shake reduction. The lens moves out towards the subject when then camera's AF button is pressed. I BELIEVE there is no helicoid. The unit is less than 1/4 thick and no provision is made for servicing. You can use AFS or AFC modes.

Appears to be shipped and sold by Focus Camera. Looking at the Focus Camera website it shows the same price but also appears to offer a free D-BG8 grip.

Hello from Cornwall United Kingdom. I am broadreach and served in the Royal Navy out the far east in the 1960's when Pentax were the top brand, and I could not afford the cameras at the time. I now am able to invest in the brand. Thank you for letting me join the Forum, I am learning loads from all the information posted on the site. But most of all I very much enjoy it.

Wow Paul! While impressive, I can see that green pictures can be a bit limiting!
I wonder, have you attempted a complete reset to factory default settings?
Have you attempted a firmware update?

AFAIK the Dremel damage can't be undone. It might be possible to solder/weld/whatever the missing bit back on but I haven't seen any reports on this ever being done successfully. Those Canonites have a lot to answer for.
If a donor can't be found, maybe a new one can be fabricated or even 3D printed? Won't be cheap but these lenses are expensive and getting more expensive every year.

It is possible to discharge a battery so low that the charger simply 'sees' it as dead.
I use a method to partially revitalise a battery enough for the charger to 'see' it again using a standard 9v battery connected + to - and - to +, held in place for 10 seconds, repeated a few times if necessary.
Has resulted in me being able to re-charge apparently dead batteries, some of which are still going strong some time later.
The method is well documented out there on the internet.
