That is you assuming every lens you want is available in APC or smaller formats. For example I would love to replace 85mm F1.2 in APC or m43. Do you have replacement in mind that could give me better DOF control with same framming. While you are at it also suggest to me how I can replicate DOF control of 50mm F1.2 on my k-x.

Assume same framming that is i want to take same shot with both formats.

Thinner DOF means more control, that is from the fact that if you can shoot with thinner dof then you can also shoot deeper DOF by stopping down the same lens. This is what is meant by DOF control.

Why they are two different things, market share is what market share is, one and the same thing. All the things you want to conclude about FF from its market share you shall be concluding the same for pentax itself too.

thank you. I wanted to hear this. The fact is that you have no way of knowing what is going to happen. So this statement that you made earlier is useless and has no bearing on future.

Like pentax's market share , which is also in single digit.

Even 2000$ is okey price point for a FF today. Also it does not mean it will not get cheaper in future. Thats a fact.

Yaa thats the conclusion you would draw from it but not everyone is slow on imbibing what other person is writing.

He has not said anything of that sorts. What he has said is those who work in Ricoh do know their stuff, they are working in that company because they go through a process of hiring which makes sure to hire people who at least have basic understanding of things.

As an engineer who worked in research department of Japanese company I can tell you that people who work there do indeed understand their subject. For example I do not know many people who know my subject or my field of expertise more than me. (In fact my next boss is only 1 person I can think who knows my field more than me).

You are free to criticize anything or anybody, but your opinion won't hold any weight compared to guys who do these things for living.

Now shoot the same thing at iso6400 , apply the noise reduction by topaz denoise and scale down the large size image to small size image. If you do so even a blind will be able to see the difference.

No matter what you guys say or think, more is always better. If there is a choice I will always take more.

Even if 6mp files are good enough, a 36mp file could be used to create a quality 6mp file. Not to mention the cropping advantage of more is always there. Here is a simple rule of mathematics, you can not create the information that is not captured but you can always discard the excess information if situation demands.

In the end 6mp is not enough, at least for me, I had k100d and mp count always created issue for me. I want min of 10mp.

10 Great Digital Camera Tips And Tricks | Digital Crave - Yahoo!

Funny one. Please do not forget to read comments too. Some of them are more funny than the article itself.

"Use the rule of thirds. Get in close. Use low ISO settings. Avoid camera shake. Set proper white balance for light. Set at 6 to 8 megapixels...no higher. Avoid cameras with CMOS sensors, they are great for low light but suck for high picture quality...CCD sensors are far superior."

"Digital Zoom reduces your MP, can zoom your shot in when you upload it in your computer. Also, do not zoom in too tight, you may miss important parts in the picture. I have found 2 or 3 pictures in one"

In the end:

"These posted comments have been a wealth of hints and tips! Thanx a bunch."

I would buy the updated R1 even if it means selling my most of pentax gear. :-D

I am still using my R1. Needless to say DA 15mm does not control my mind, but R1 does.

At 24mm (I think it is at 24mm) shot handheld:

Check Sony R1's zoom lens at 24mm (35 Eq). The lens sits just 1 - 2 mm away from sensor and at 24mm it is one of the best lenses.

And this camera is from year 2005, we have come long way since.

Yaa sure. If you have an opinion antipodal to mine then you must be the stupid one. This seems to be philosophy of your life.

As far as designing is concerned, no matter how useless Red Dot awards are, they are given by people who understand design far better than you do. Between you and them, I would take their opinion every time.

Just the way of looking at things.

I could equally say that there are people who can not even operate a coffee machine properly and their coffee machine was always broken. They can even break the good ones like the ones which got Red Dot award. These guys must be pathetic at handling things.

You see , problem lies in the eyes of beholder.

DPR K-01 Preview - They've Made A Hash Of It

If I were pentax since I have got Q (the very small) and K-01 (the k-mounter), I would try to get one more mirrorless in e mount of sony with APC and make camera damn small just as NEXes. And by doing so I do not have to worry about lenses for another mirrorless. Then slowly put lenses into emount too. If there are two players in e-mount it would be much strong.

It is clear that mirrorless is camera of future and for small player like pentax it is good to share things with big player like Sony.

DPR K-01 Preview - They've Made A Hash Of It

Its one thing to say that someone prefers one camera over other than to say that other camera is stupid or useless because he prefers this one. I also like NEX7 and would get it over K-01.

In the same thread at DPR Andy also said that all the other mirrorlesses like M43 and NEX are significantly small. Now if Andy takes photos without lenses they may be small but as soon as he puts K mount lenses they would all come out to be same size (almost) and on K-01 user does not have to pay extra 30000 yen or so to use these lenses.

Further if significantly small makes it better then also he did not explain why he hated Q so much. Is Q not significantly smaller than rest of mirrorless systems??

If I have to ask above question I probably would get reply that IQ is also important and IQ of Q is not upto the standards. Then why K-01 is dissed?? IQ of K-01 is upto the standards of K5, isn't it.

So you see there is no fixed reason for DPR to hate K-01, they just do because probably it is not nikon or canon.

Indeed this is the issue, here is my reply to Andy about this point.

you sound like a big sony fanboi here. The remarkable ratio of image quality to size may be valid only for e mount lenses. As soon as you think of mounting any other lenses the lens adapter also comes into play which makes your statement very much false. Further to add to it this adapter is not free. The sony alpha adapter costs 33000 yen in japan which is roughly 40 - 50% price of k-01 body.

The person who accused them of bias would be me.

This is my opinion and I have come to conclude it after being member there from year 2005 and visiting that site almost everyday from that day.

It is too difficult to link to every small thing that has happened and forced me to conclude it. So just take it as someone's opinion. Agreeing or disagreeing to this opinion is upto the reader.

DPR and bias are close friends.

last year i read a small article in which author said that your writing reflects what type of person you are for example if you are a lecher your writing will be full of words that hint that you are a lecher.

Same with DPR their preview reviews reek of their bias.

K-01 preview and before that Q , they can not help it. Long time ago they had bias against sony too (and few other small brands) but once sony gave them cold shoulder and after that somehow they are good to sony now.

They pretend that they are neutral or simply they are incapable of spotting that they actually have bias.

My opinion is that if your profession demands that you should be neutral then you have to be neutral. But it is difficult thing to do.

I handled the K-01 on weekends and I think green button is placed fine. Had NO problems shooting with it the way I do. So I guess the placement of buttons is subjective. Anyway there is no hard and fast rule as long as it is not placed too awkward its fine by me.
