During the past 2 years I have not done much printing--or even photography--but things are looking up (knock wood) and I am hoping to do a lot of both in over next few months.
My previous go-to papers were Museo SIlver Rag, Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Pearl, and Ilford Gold Fibre Silk. Although the manufacturer changed, Museo is still available and although Ilford Gold Fibre Silk is discontinued I found a replacement for it. Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Pearl is still available but at prices that make my jaw drop. (I usually buy 24" wide rolls).
Now I am considering a "budget" paper--Kodak Professional Lustre as a replacement for the Hahnemuhle. It's lighter (255gsm vs 308gsm) but a 24" by 100' roll has a very attractive price. I've read nice things about it but can only find limited specs for it and no info on whether it contains OBAs.
Does anyone use this paper and have any info to share? If it matters I print on an ipf6400 pigment printer.

and if it's just an avocation, then you have to think about it.
and I think that's really all that matters right there. :)

Although I had a few DA series lenses over the years--and some were excellent--all my current lenses are film era. They don't have the new coatings or curved aperture blades but they are still excellent lenses nonetheless.
On one hand, if I didn't have a fast 85mm lens and I really wanted one I'd likely choose the new DFA* over the FA* since I haven't shot film in ages. On the other hand, since I already own the FA* I have to ask myself if the DFA* is sufficiently superior to warrant the time and expense of replacing a lens with which I am already very happy.

I seriously doubt anyone can reliably handhold the FA* 600. If it's weight was in a compact form factor handholding might be possible--albeit very tiring--but it's just too lengthy.

It is a beast--I had to buy a new tripod especially for it. With a Wimberley head and camera+grip there's about 21 pounds on the tripod. (The added weight of the grip is useful for balancing.)

I have the FA* 600mm f/4, the Sigma 300mm f/2.8, and the Sigma 150-500mm. Although fast, the 300mm is really too short for most birding. The 600mm is excellent except it weighs a ton which makes being stationary desirable. The 150-500mm, although slower, works pretty well in bright light and is hand-holdable,

Sometimes I feel like I am missing out by not drinking coffee but I've never acquired the taste for it. Tea, on the other hand, I drink every day. Irish Breakfast tea, English Afternoon tea, Prince of Wales tea, Oolong tea, maybe Earl Grey once in a while or Chai on a cool autumn afternoon or blustery winter day.

Some of us never had much functionality, anyway. ;). That said, I would definitely miss what little I do have.
At my annual physical last year my doc asked if I had seen an eye doctor that year and I replied, "No, what's he gonna do? Tell me I'm still blind? I already know that." And she went on to say how it was important for many reasons including those that people have listed in this thread.

My top rated lens is the FA* 85mm f/1.4 rated at 9.75. Right behind that I have the FA 77mm Ltd with it's 9.73 rating. I feel they live up to those ratings, too, they're just spectacular performers.
Rounding out my top 5 K-mount are the FA 31mm Ltd (9.51), the FA 43mm Ltd (9.47) and the FA* 24 (9.23).
My best 645 lens is the FA 120mm macro with a perfect 10, a score I agree with wholeheartedly. My FA 200mm sores a 9.86 and I also have the FA 75mm, FA 150mm, and FA 80-160mm which each score a 9.5. I am rather surprised the FA 35mm doesn't rate higher, it's one of my 3 must-haves for 645.
