Rhino and Lion Park, West of Johannesburg, and its feeding time for the lions, and they are familiar with the vehicle that comes with big chunks of meat at feeding time. Here one of the males comes rather close to the vehicle. The ensuing scene was something to behold. |

I have bought both original and third party. OEM are always reliable and Pentax one's aren't that expensive. Try buying a spare Fuji battery! Third party can be a lottery. Some are good, some are bad. Many have nice specs on paper but don't deliver. You'll have to get to know the brands.

the guess would be T2 mount that 35mm said......being a preset good chance it has several blades making it a so called 'bokeh monster'......certainly worth a spin with a T2 to PK adapter

It's obviously a pretty rare beast given the very low serial number and lack of info on the internets.
This is your chance to expand everyone's knowledge of this unusual lens. So please throw it on your camera when you get it back, take some pictures, and tell us what you think.:)

The mount appears to be a T2 mount, an early form of interchangeable mount system. Other than that - not a clue ! Sorry.

Girl in a bar. Somebody was just about to tap her shoulder and I like the quick eye-glance that she gives just before that.

If I were a pro on an important shoot or a machine-gunner I would suggest sticking to OEMs. Otherwise I can recommend Watsons.

I've often bought third party batteries rather than the Pentax branded ones. I can't speak to a good USA source, I buy mine from Battery Canada. Actually, with the advantageous value the US dollar has at the moment, they might be a good source for American buyers. I've found that batteries from them are about a quarter the cost of Pentax batteries, have very nearly the same capacity and have almost the same life expectancy as well.

Very interesting, those examples look pretty damming.
Besides that I personally struggle to see how her work can really be called photography, skilful and artistic it may be and OK the elements are made up of photographs, but the end result is surely a form of illustration (as the article suggests). Even more so when the elements are sourced from others as it appears.

I'm going to Europe this summer, and I've been thinking about city and street photography. I have a K-3ii and a 40 LTD that will probably be my workhorse. May also buy/rent a 20-40. But how to carry it? Last time I was in Munich it was November and the K-3ii/40 combination would just fit in a coat pocket. So no need for straps and backpacks and the like. This time it'll be July/August. No coat.
I'm sure there will be times I don't want to lug around a backpack. I probably don't want to always be that guy with a BlackRapid strap on. I have a neoprene wrist strap I like, but if we stop to eat or whatever there's no place to put the camera except on the table. I will not wear a fanny pack.
What does everyone else do?

Happy Friday all! I love the bugs, the ice and the osprey!
Not much from me this week. My ever-suffering feline subject, Sham Shui Po and some folks taking pictures of the sunrise last weekend. All taken with my K-1 II. The cat with my DA 70 Ltd (it's a lovely lens, even on full frame!) and the others with my 16-85 in crop mode.

2.The Alpine chough or yellow-billed chough , is a bird in the crow family, one of only two species in the genus Pyrrhocorax. Its two subspecies breed in high mountains from Spain eastwards through southern Europe and North Africa to Central Asia and Nepal, and it may nest at a higher altitude than any other bird. The eggs have adaptations to the thin atmosphere that improve oxygen take-up and reduce water loss.
This bird has glossy black plumage, a yellow beak, red legs, and distinctive calls.
