Hi ervybody, been away from here (and photography in general) for a long, long time. I've forgotten many techniques, settings etc. What hasn't disappeared though is my appreciation of manual lenses. I don't have many of them, but the ones I do have, I like. The picture below was taken a long time ago with an SMC Takumar 55 f/1,8. It has a bit of a 'painted' effect here, I think.

Here's one of the first pictures I took with the KP and of course the Sigma 70-200. Some weird settings, I know, can't find anything yet ;) , taken at - for me - very high ISO (6400) which it seems to handle very well! I already love this little camera, so I think I'm going to keep it!

I hope I haven't posted this one before. I just can't stop taking pictures of this meandering river - love it! This one is just as much about the clouds though,

Focusing problems with Sigma 17-50 on KP

Thank you all for your comments!

I'm afraid I spoke too soon. Yesterday I gave the lens an outing and it was H-O-R-R-I-D! :( Spinning a lot, but hardly ever focusing, whatever setting I used. Sometimes it seemed to be worse on the wide end (17mm), and work on the tele end, but then it changed again. It drove me nuts.

I've decided to return it and ask for a refund. Somehow I think the problem may be related to both the lens and the body having a stabilisation system. Or maybe I just had a Monday morning copy. As I really like and want this lens though, I've ordered another one. This time one without OS, from a reputable UK seller whom I've bought from before: SRS Microsystems. I'll have a 30-day approval time + 1 year guarantee.

Hoping for the best - keep your fingers crossed please, ;)

Pffff, Tas, this may well be one of the most difficult ones I've worked on!

Two totally different ones (may replace them later in the week or leave them - can't decide yet). ;)

Thank you very much, @taks, I really like it! I paired it with the KP and it's one of the lightest set-ups I've ever carried around. ;)

Lovely countryside and great picture! Not the easiest one to work on, but that makes it even better and more interesting. I've tried to bring the sun out amyway. ;) Give it a little bit of time and the whole area will be basking in the sunshine! ;)

First attempt in colour, second one in b&w and a bit foggy

This time picking a winner was harder than ever. There are a lot of cracking entries this round. Thank you all!

So, these were my thoughts on the contributions:
Robert: I like the toning, but overall it's a bit too grainy for me
Laurie: loved your colours, makes me think of the impressionist painters, very soothing and peaceful
Pelto: You're new to the challenge, aren't you? Great to see you joining! The band of clouds in your version is a bit understated - I would like to have seen it displayed more prominently.
Mariwalt: a very smooth, calm and straightforward interpretation. I think there's a bit more 'life' to be uncovered.
Todd: as always a very nice, impeccable b&w conversion expressing moodiness
Strobedumas: and another new joiner? Wonderful! You've delivered a very daring and bold copy! Clever! I love the idea of something hiding in there. Maybe I should go back one day and see what it might be! ;)
Noel: a bit more subdued than I'm used to seeing from you in these challnges. ;) Very nice nevertheless! In #1 my feeling is that the clouds are a bit too undefined for me as there's so much detail to be found in them. The same goes for #2 and I think some land areas could have done with some brightening
Tuggie: I'm always looking forward to seeing what you've added! And this one 's definitely no disappointment - I think it may be your best one yet! I also like the colours, drops and ripples in the water! Very detailed! Great effort!
Graeme: hahaha, the boat + fishermen is a wonderful addition. You can even see their shadows in the water, so that's a plus score for adding that detail!
jmacias: I'd have preferred the red colour to be a bit deeper, but I like the detail in foliage and clouds.

And the winner is ......

Graeme83 for version #2
runner-up: Tuggie76!

Congratulations, @graeme83!
