Thank you both, we take our dogs(we have a french bulldog and a boston terrier/pug mix) everywhere with us so we thought it would be a perfect idea for our Christmas card haha.

Thanks! we actually found the mailbox when we were walking around a local park. We thought it would be a perfect Christmas card with Tyson dressed up as santa shoved inside the mailbox after a fresh snow. I think it turned out pretty well

Just thought I would post up a Christmas card pic that I recently took of Tyson my French Bulldog. This was the second time I used my DIY beauty dish (which was to the left of the camera) and a flash with a lumiquest 80/20 diffuser to the right.

I'm thinking about changing the font of the text, adding a board or something else....I'm not good at the text part of photoshop any ideas?

Why because I stated Nikon has more lenses of high quality(being pro quality), you prove me wrong on that one and I will believe you that it was a neophyte statement.

I don't think I would consider myself a "neophyte" and I don't believe you could make the assumption that I was based on something I write. I have taken MANY sharp pictures with my current lenses, but I believe when I want to upgrade to something better than what I have Nikon has a better selection than Pentax. There is nothing wrong with what I have now but I just need a change and that will probably be me just upgrading bodies.

o yeah by the way I was NEVER complaining about any of Pentax glass I just said Nikon offers more pro-sumer lenses. But of course you can make more assumptions about what I said and my photography skills because it won't affect my decision.

Ahhhh you guys found me... I have always been a Pentax users since I began taking pictures however I was tempted by the other side. After considering the price vs value of the two systems I am going to stay with Pentax. I was looking at some of the pictures I recently took with the sigma 70-200mm and found that they are as sharp if not sharper than most of the Nikon zooms that cover a range close to that and for 1/2 of the price. I am just going to upgrade to the K7 to help satisfy my want for a change. I think it was more of an out dated body issue than a glass quality issue. Anyways now that I am out of the shadows feel free to bash away for me thinking about switching systems:p

Should I buy a ZX-7??

Locally I found a ZX-7 for $25, I think I am going to pick it up tomorrow.(this is a good deal right?) But I had a few questions before I got into Pentax's 35mm cameras. I have a k10d, k110d and several lenses and I know they will fit because they are k mount but will the auto focus still work? Also will if I do use those lenses will have to crop the edges because of a difference in sensors sizes from digital to film? Thanks for the help

I have a Hasselblad 500 EL with a Carl Zeiss Planar 80mm f2.8 and have been looking at this Pro Hasselblad Lens- Pentax K Mount Adapter K100D Super - eBay (item 220444923470 end time Jul-29-09 08:44:00 PDT) adapter to put the lens onto my k10d. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this and is it even worth the money for the adapter I really want to see what the k10d would be able to do with great lens, thanks for the help!

I have the sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 with the HSM ("Hyper Sonic Motor") and this is completly silent on my k10d. I think as many stated before it all depends on what lens you are using.

First attempt at panning--Dirt track racing

I was recently asked if I wanted to shoot some dirt track racing and of course not wanting to pass up an opportunity to learn some new I said yes! Well I had never done any panning pics or any auto racing pics before and this was about the 4th time I had ever had my new Sigma HSM 70-300 f2.8 on my camera soo I had a few things going against me. But after a couple races I was finally able to pick up how to use the lens and monopod to my advantage. Standing on the inside of the track with no barriers definetly give you an adrenaline rush. Here are a couple pics I took....Thanks for looking and any C&C would be greatly appreciated!

Well I was offered a really good deal on a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 HSM Macro II that I couldn't pass up so I bought it!!....Now I just need to find the lens to cover the lower focal length...Tamron 17-50mm, Sigma 18-5mm macro or the Da 16-45mm???

Thanks for the links to the 12-24mm pics, your making it a even tougher decision;)

I am really leaning towards this choice and I might be able to buy both the DA 50-135mm and the Tamron 17-50mm (Depending on how cheap I can pick up the DA for)

Thanks for the info! If I go with a wide angle prime I think I would would want to be down in the 10-20mm, like the DA 14mm, anyone have an opinion on this lens?

Maybe I should go with sigma 10-20mm and da 50-135mm?? maybe add a prime in there at a later date, ahhhhh so many choices

I think the most important thing to me is IQ out of the lens I end up buying. I was kind of pushed away from the 16-50mm because of the problems people were having and how it wasn't really up to the standards of how well it should perform.

True and I find myself using the lower focal range more than anything else, but this could be I have never had a lens as good as the 50-135mm to cover the other focal lengths.

Thanks for the info! I think the extra f-stop will help because I seem to shoot a lot indoors. Is there any lens that is even better than these two at covering this focal length( I was thinking 16-50mm but is it worth the money when you can get the tamron for about $200-250 cheaper)

Haha...I work and go to school at the same time. But during the summers I have a full time job. So I consider my tax return money a gift to myself for the hard work and what better way could you spend your gift money than on a new lens:D

oooo so many great lens combos you put together, I just like the more usability of zooms than primes (I just like to change focal length without having to switch the lens)

How do the DA 16-45 and Tamron 17-50mm compare. I really like shooting wide so this would a plus to have a solid lens down in this range

or to through another curve ball in there I could sell my k110d with kit lens and just keep the k10d and then buy the DA 50-135mm + DA 70mm + Tam 17-50mm or DA 16-45

What to do?!?

Haha thats how I can con myself into spending it all, I'm just helping out my fellow Americans by stimulating the economy:lol:
