They are being sold from several Japanese stores. I assumed for the price that they had auto function like the $500.00 Nikon extension tubes. I have seen no feedback on them anywhere. My question is does the electronic metering actually function? I have seen many extension tubes that are manual only in the lower price range. Is the PENTAX auto extension ring K set 30535 actually manual?
Thanks ---------- Post added 02-08-2014 at 04:38 PM ---------- I found some of my answers at this site How *Auto* Are Pentax Auto Extension Tubes? - Photography Stack Exchange |

Does anyone have any information on the PENTAX auto extension ring K set 30535? I have seen them for around $510.00 on Amazon but all shipments appear to be from Japan.
Thanks

The DA* 60-250 lives on my K-5. The DA*16-50 lives on the K20. Seems the more I think about it they all get used a lot depending on what I'm doing. Just this morning I was sitting on my back porch with a cup of coffee using the DA* 300 for birds.
1. DA* 60-250
2. DA* 16-50
3. D FA 100 Macro
4. DA* 300
5. 85 mm 1.4 Rokinon (just got)

Thanks. That helps clear some of the confusion for me about the re-badged Samyang Pentax mount 85 1.4. There is about a 60 dollar difference between the Rokinon and the Vivitar and Bower versions.

I was considering a purchase of this lens from B&H based on the positive review on this forum. I understand that the Rokinon and the Vivitar are essentially the same lens and I also realize there is a discussion thread in the forum on this very issue but the answers were not clear.
I understand that this is a manual focus lens. For using automatic meter functions is there a difference in the Pentax mount between the two? The Vivitar says it's a KA mount and that aperture mode will work when turned to "A" but none of the specs I've read for the Rokinon mention this. Is there a difference?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Adam
I just submitted a photo for my first contest and the photo I submitted looks much fuzzier and not as good as on my computer. I know the download process re-sizes the image, but other peoples photos still look great. I looked over the instructions for the process but do admit I didn't read it in detail and I don't fully understand how to re-size and download the photos in order to retain a higher quality.

I am curious about the subjective picture quality comparison between a full frame camera such as a Canon 5D Mark III or a Nikon 700 when using a 300 f2.8 lens plus a 1.5x converter vs an APS-C camera, such as the Pentax K-5, using the *DA 300 f4 lens for wildlife shots since both will obtain the same focal length. I've read that there is a slight degradation of the image and loss of a stop of light when using converters. I have not used converters before.
Assuming a skilled photographer is taking the same shots with the different cameras and blowing the images up as large as practical, will the images be comparable or will the full frame camera still be better than the APS-C due the the larger pixels? Has this comparison already been discussed somewhere else?
thanks just curious

I like the Camouflage (khaki green) and the Camouflage (Black Khaki). That would be a great look on a K-5 for stalking.
When I bought my 17 year old daughter a Pentax K-x I gave her the choice of red, white, blue and black. Without hesitation she chose the red one. After the purchase, Pentax came out with more colors. She said she wished she had waited to get...yes.. a pink one. She takes photography seriously but I know she would jump on the multicolored cameras. However the next camera she gets she has to pay for herself.

Thanks to those who actually answered the question. And to the others I apologize for creating this thread. :) I currently have the DA*16-50, DA* 60-250, D FA 100 macro, and the DA* 300. I also have old Sigma and Tamron kit type zooms that I used on my SF1N (that I got new 20 years ago) that lived though a trip to Alaska I shoot on a tripod and hand-held. I shoot manual and the auto modes. I've taken good and disappointing shots using all of the lenses (so I'll blame the photographer occasionally). Since its my money and the higher quality lenses are somewhat costly I have actually done hours and hours of research (too much)and comparing shots and this forum and other sites. There is so much chatter about the Lmtds. Much of the discussion on this forum leads to the Limited s as the best and back to my question on this thread. I've seen reviews on Photozone which give the Lmtd 31mm the highest marks four and a half stars (whether subjective or quantified). If the answer is that it depends, then that's the answer... so again thanks :) So how can I kill this thread? :)

Regardless of costs, what is the best lens that Pentax currently makes? Or I should ask what is optically the best lens available for a Pentax mount that is currently made? Does it make a difference if it's on a film camera or a digital camera? I'm really not trying to stir up controversy and I'm sure it's been discussed before somewhere on the forum. I want to purchase the best Pentax lens for the sharpest photos. From what I've read at Photozone for Pentax lenses the Ltd.31 was reviewed as the best using a K10 as the test camera. The number of lenses reviewed at DPReview is small. I'm now considering getting a Ltd 31 and waiting on the K5 price to drop a little.

Thanks. That's kind of along the line I'm, thinking about the use of filters. With the any of the other lenses I have a choice whereas with the Sigma 8-16 you don't get a choice.

Thanks for the advice. I have never used anything wider than the 16-50 f2.8 (Yes I know, it was a brain lapse). From what I have read and examples I've seen the Pentax 12-24 is a bit better lens than the Sigma 10-20 mm and Tamron 10-24mm. Photozone gave the Sigma 8-16 a rave review (on a Canon) although they emphasize that the result shouldn't be compared across systems.

I want to get a wide angle lens. I currently have a DA* 16-50 F4 I'm trying to decide between the Pentax 12-24 F4, the Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6, or wait for the Pentax 12-35 f3.5-4.5 (that may never come). I've seen and read good things about the Pentax 12-24 F4. Photozone really likes the Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6, and the Pentax 12-35 f3.5-4.5 is suppose to be weather resistant.
I can't decide if the Pentax 12-24 F4 is wide enough for me and it is not weather resistant. I would like my lenses to be weather resistant. The Sigma cannot use a filter and is not weather resistant. I'm not sure how important the use of a filter will be for landscape shooting with a wide angle lens. Many of the landscape shots I've taken before I use a polarizing or enhancing filter.

I bought the 16-50 SDM in September 2008 never had a problem. I bought the 300 F4 SDM December 2008 never had a problem. I just got the 60-250 F4 SDM September 2010 and have not had a problem. All great lenses. I've read about the SDM issues on this forum for a while and it does make one hesitate to make a purchase. I got my first 2 SDM lenses before reading any of the discouraging comments about the Pentax SDM lenses on this forum and I'm glad I did.

I have the both Kx (my daughters camera) and the K20. Both have excellent picture quality. I have used both side by side each with *DA lenses and got similar (good) results. I absolutely prefer the the K20 for ease of use when shooting in manual (two dials) and for the weather sealing. I do not have any experience with the K7 although the sensor is the same as the K20 and it has an advanced feature set. The Kx shoots better in low (indoor) light with good glass. I plan on getting a K5 soon but will not depart with my K20. The weather sealing is very important to me. I will not get another camera without weather sealing. Although you can by products that can protect your camera from the elements I like the peace of mind. In hind-site I would have like to get my daughter a weather sealed camera because she missed a few shots while she was living 10 months in Ecuador when she had to put the camera away (even though she had a plastic bag). My 2 cents. :)

I know this has probably been answered numerous times but can lenses made for the 645 be used on the APS-C SLR K mount bodies? The HARTBLEI Digital 45mm Super-Rotator Tilt Shift Lens is the only tilt shift lens I've seen for Pentax but it's made for only a 645. Are there any tilt shift lenses made for Pentax APS-C bodies?
Thanks

I have read great things about all of these lenses which makes decision making hard as to which ONE to get. I want to add a fast versatile prime lens for general low light shooting to my collection.
The faster lenses that I currently have are the DA *16-50 F2.8 and the F DA 100mm F2.8 macro.
