It's your lucky day man.... You're going to need a screwdriver and unscrew the two little screws above your mirror damper. dont lose them!
Then the screen holding assembly will swing down and you can remove the fresnel screen. Pull it out and soak it in lens cleaning solution. If it's still not coming off you can give it a LITTLE rub with a soft brush (a very thin one, like a artist paintbrush) while it's submersed in the solution. then take it out and dry it off infront of a fan or something.
then just put your screen back in the holder thingy and push it back up and insert the screws.
This is specific to the program plus camera. :D

When starting off, you have to look at photos you like, and then ask yourself "how did they achieve this look?, How did they use lighting to their advantage, what aperture was this set at," and blah blah,
I think photography is about being able to appreciate and notice beauty, and having the technical knowledge to capture what ever it is in the most flattering way.

Use contact lens cleaner on the focusing screen, it doesn't leave marks and dries quicker and cleaner than distilled water.

I never understood why people "collect" lenses. It's a shame that there's TONS of perfectly good old lenses just sitting on someones shelf.
I've always thought if you have it, USE it, enjoy it. Don't just look at it, and think about dollar signs.

Hell, I managed to get the locking ring of the outer element open, and saw some strange pattern of fungus on the inside, it looked like the veins of a person's eye, but it cleaned nicely with vodka and windex (best stuff I had on hand) and I also managed to get the rest of the element groups out of the "tube?" but i'm gonna have to get that spanner soon so I can open up the groups to clean the insides.
Here's some pictures
Front locking ring removed Front element, liberated lens with front element removed here is lens with front element removed and the center group in my hands, Look at that nastiness.

NOW we go through the backdoor ;)
that's the rear group removed,

I have several of these lenses, so I don't mind cracking one open to try and make a tutorial on how to clean these things up. I'm about to order my spanner and hopefully I'll have a full write up with pictures.

So today I decided I wanted to try to tackle cleaning the fungus out of a 50mm prime, I took it apart enough to be able to remove the front element group, But realized I'm going to need an adjustable spanner to remove the retaining ring on there before I can get inside so I put it back together again.
Does anyone have any experience in cleaning a lens like this that could provide advice on how to clean the fungus properly, and the best way of getting inside those two elements?
Here's some pictures of what i'm dealing with. Taken apart What I need to open up. Nastiness.

a bit of toothpaste and a microfiber cloth. In little circles, and keep going little by little. It works if it's plastic. However, if you have deep gashes, only god can save you then.

Well on my Zenit, The lens stays on only because I bought it with no body cap and I'd hate for that crystal clear viewfinder to get screwed up. My pentaxes wear their bodycaps with pride though.

Hey guys I just picked up a camera, works great except that the foam above the mirror is in pretty bad shape. Does anyone know where I can get some of this foam, or better yet, if there's a common material that I can use as a substitute?

Hi everybody, I just bought a program plus at a garage sale a couple days ago for ten bucks and I cannot move the film advance lever past the stand off position. At the moment it has no batteries so maybe (hopefully) new batteries will solve this? or Is the lever supposed to move regardless of the batteries. I've googled this like crazy and haven't been able to find an answer
And if the lever is actually stuck, how would you suggest fixing the problem?
Sorry if this post sounds a little dumb, I practiced photography on a K1000 and this is kinda foreign to me.
thanks, John
