Thank you for all the interest and I apologize for the delay in response. The moderator deleted my post since I did not mention I accept Paypal in the original post.

Also, I did not specify shipping charges. The buyer pays the shipping charges. I will ship insured via UPS.

There have been more responses than I anticipated and I am a bit overwhelmed - perhaps I priced them too low? : )

I have been responding to the messages in the order I have received them and giving the buyers a reasonable amount of time to reply.

If a deal cannot be struck with the first individual that responded, I will then move on to next buyer.

Thank you for the interest!

For Sale: my whole Pentax kit! Unfortunately, the time has come to sell my gear. I'm kinda choked up about selling all of this, as I have sentimental attachment from taking many great photos with all of this. This gear does not get enough use to justify me keeping it anymore. I hope it goes to another Pentaxian that will enjoy it as much as me!

The camera, all of the lenses (besides the DA 70, see below), and the flash were purchased new by me. All have original boxes, pouches, etc. All of the lenses had a filter attached the instant they were taken out the box (or are in mint and hardly taken out of the box, FA 31, see below). Subsequently, all the glass (front and rear) are pristine. Most are in like new condition or excellent condition (I'm honestly not quite sure of the difference), some are mint, and a couple have barely noticeable cosmetic wear (for example, small scratches from taking in and out of camera bag, etc.).

K-5: In excellent condition. I put a Giottos glass screen protector over the back LCD right after I took it out of the box. There are probably normal signs of use, but I honestly can't see any. Built like a tank! $250. Pending.

DA 15mm: A favorite! See the classic "15mm Limited controls my mind" thread on this one. This may have been my most used lens, and therefore has a few cosmetic scratches on the lens cap. Other than that, the lens is in like new/excellent condition. SOLD.

DA 21mm: In like new/excellent condition with only minor signs of use. SOLD.

FA 31mm: I bought this in a fit of LBA. It has barely been out of the box and never taken outside of my house. It is in like new/mint condition. The lens cap has the faintest of scratches. Other than that, this baby is mint. If you have been wanting one, now is your chance! $925.

DA 35mm: Another favorite! Macro ability and very sharp. Like new condition with only minor signs of use. SOLD.

DA 40mm: Yet another favorite! This one sold me on Pentax. So small. So awesome. Like new condition. SOLD.

DA 70mm: I bought this used from a fellow Pentaxian on this forum. It is not a frequently used focal length for me, but when I did use it, it shined! Normal signs of use but very clean. SOLD.

Metz Mecablitz 58 AF-2 flash: I bought this just to see if I liked using a flash. Turns out, I didn't! This one is mint, and only used a handful of times. $250. SOLD.

I have tried to price everything fairly, but please feel free to send me an offer.

Buyer pays shipping. I accept Paypal.

**UPDATE** I will only ship to Paypal verified addresses. It is my understanding that this is the only way that Paypal will offer Seller Protection. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Transfer files from Slot 1 to Slot 2 (Flucard)

Hello,

On the K3, can you transfer photos from SD card Slot 1 to Slot 2? My ultimate goal would be to have a large capacity, fast SD card in Slot 1, and a Flucard in Slot 2 for overflow and for transferring photos to another device.

Essentially, I want the ability to transfer photos wirelessly from a K3, but not be limited by slow write times and only 16gb storage. My understanding is the image must be physically on the Flucard for wireless transfer. Also, the tethering is great, but the wifi transfer is of most importance to me.

If photo transfer between slots is not possible, does anyone have any other ideas?

Thank you.

If anyone is interested, I found a FA 31 at a good price and quickly bought it. This doesn't necessarily solve my small/lightweight issue. But maybe I can just bring the 31 and the P&S. I'll see how large and heavy the lens is when it arrives. At the very least, I should have a new wonderful lens for many occasions.

Well, so much for the 31mm Limited option now that the price skyrocketed. This price jump on lenses is ludicrous. It makes me second guess my choice of Pentax altogether...

what lenses for macro and landscape

I second the Pentax DA 35mm Macro. It is awesome. AF can be a little slow for capturing action.

But for macro and landscape it is amazing. Super sharp. Nice bokeh. I can't recommend it enough for those applications...

I always hope to get a few amazing "keepers" to print and put on the wall. However, my criteria for what I want to print and put on my wall has changed. It used to be dramatic landscapes, etc. but now my favorites are ones with my family members in them.

The typical "everybody stand in front of this amazing landmark" shot is fine and makes a great memory. The point and shoot does an admirable job at this task.

But my new favorite is capturing portraits with context on my travels. For instance, my wife in a restaurant. Or my son in a train car, etc. for these shots my favorites are always the ones with that "3D" shallow depth of field look that the Limiteds can create. It makes the family member "pop", and even though the background is blurred I leave enough in the frame to remember where the shot was taken (Czech beer hall, Japenese garden, etc.).

I was hoping the DA 21 would be almost perfect for this task, but at 3.2 the DOF is often not shallow enough and in some situations the bokeh is nervous looking. The DA 40 provides awesome pictures but isn't wide enough in small spaces. The DA 35 Macro could work, but I find I miss shots of my toddler due to the focus hunting. I was hoping to get better at manually putting the focus in the ballpark so the 35 didn't have to work as much - but I still find I miss the focus spot often and it takes awhile to find the right spot.

I thought about getting the 18-55 kit lens. It would be cheap, no worries, and would have WR. But this would still not provide much DoF I think.

I'm surprised there are not more votes for a 2.8 zoom like the Tamron or even the Pentax 16-50. I considered the Pentax, as it would provide WR. But it didn't get a great review on Photozone and the price just nearly doubled.

That is why I circled back around to the FA 31. I'm also surprised that isn't getting too many votes. Much cheaper than the Pentax 16-50 now, and it is supposed to legendary. I am concerned that it could be too limiting a focal length and it is bigger than the DA Limiteds. But paired with the point and shoot it could be pretty awesome too.

Finally, this new purchase will not just be for Germany. I keep having the same issue in my home town when going out hiking or to the zoo, etc. There is not a ton of time to switch lenses. Maybe I need to bite the bullet and get a zoom lens. The whole reason I love Pentax is for those amazing primes though...

I do tend to worry about my lens choices. But some upfront worrying saves me from being bummed out that I don't have the right gear on my trip...

I guess I'm leaning towards a zoom like the Tamron 17-50 2.8 or the FA 31 at the moment. I haven't found a large sensor compact that will fit the bill yet.

Any more thoughts? Thanks for all the input, it really does help to give me new perspective.

Thank you for all the good suggestions.

I am not opposed to spending the money on the FA 31 (I would likely sell the 21), but I want to be as certain as possible it will fulfill my needs especially since it is bigger and heavier than my DA Limiteds.

The DA 35 2.4 is a decent option as well. I thought about that as a solution, but then would I sell the DA 35? Also, Photozone stated that the bokeh can be busy in certain scenarios.

The Q, although a nice camera, doesn't solve my DOF issue. It appears that compacts with larger sensors such as the GR, RX100, etc. would provide better bokeh. Also, reviewers do not seem to like the "blur effect" option on the Q. The Sony RX1 could be perfect but $2500ish is definitely out of the budget. FA 31 is top of the Pentax budget. I'd maybe go up to $1200 for a Fuji X100s if I thought it was the perfect solution.

I'd prefer not to buy another larger style interchangeable lens camera such as the K-01. The camera would have to be much smaller than the K5 to make the purchase worth it I would think. The 4/3 cameras are still a little chunky and the smaller sensor doesn't help with DOF. Perhaps a NEX could work, but the lenses seem to be large and/or not very positive reviews on Photozone.

At the moment, my two favorite options seem to be splurging on the FA 31 or purchasing a high end compact. The point and shoot I already own is the Canon S95 so a compact option would need to work better than that for my needs.

Any other thoughts from my fellow Pentaxians? Regarding size and weight of lenses or cameras, please keep in mind that I have never seen any of these products in person.

I am traveling to Germany with my wife, in-laws, and 18 month old son. In the past, I have traveled with 3 DA limiteds and been perfectly happy.

However, this time I will be carrying baby gear and I do not think switching lenses frequently will be an option due to juggling a toddler, etc. Also, I'm not sure I will even be able to bring a camera bag, so my camera setup must fit in my carry on backpack and/or the diaper bag. I will be bringing a separate small sensor point and shoot. I am primarily concerned with shooting shallow depth of field shots with whatever else I bring.

So far, I see my options as follows:

1. Bring just the DA 21 (this lens does not provide enough shallow DOF for my taste in most situations).
2. Bring either the DA 15 or the 21 and the 35 macro or 40 (I know I will be constantly switching lenses, the 40 is not wide enough for indoors and places like train cars).
3. Bring just the DA 35 macro (the autofocus may not be fast enough for a toddler and P&S will be required for wide angle).
4. Purchase the FA 31 (this is pricey, the lens is bigger/heavier, but I'm assuming it will provide shallow depth of field for portraits and that AF is fast enough for a toddler).
5. Purchase a compact such as the new Ricoh GR (smallest, lightest option, unknown if AF fast enough or if DOF/bokeh is adequate for portraits).
6. Purchase a zoom, such as the Tamron 16-50 2.8 (big in comparison to primes, not sure will fit in my backpack easily, not a huge fan of third party zooms in the past).

As you can see, I'm quite unsure what the best option is considering my circumstances. Any advice from my fellow Pentaxians would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Sorry for the long post.

Which Limited to get?

I own both. Truly a tough call.

The 21 is better for indoor, all purpose shots (the 15 is often too wide and slower at f/4). The 15 is better for travel and landscape shots (the 21 is often not wide enough for large subjects). That being said, IMO the 15 excels at what I use it for while I wish the 21 was better suited to my indoor shot needs (i.e. faster). As I never really "bonded" with my 21, I'm thinking about investing in a FA 31...

Landscape Primes

I will echo the comments that the DA 35 is also excellent for landscape due to its sharpness, plus it adds macro ability. It is slower to focus than the 40, but that doesn't really matter for landscape. As I stated earlier, I usually bring the 40 along instead unless I think I will have some macro opportunities.

I like the DA 21, but I find it is not as wide as I sometimes need. The 21 is definitely more versatile than the 15 IMO (because the 15 is SO wide), however.

As I mentioned, it depends on your particular focal needs. You can't go wrong with any of the DA Limiteds. My most frequent trio right now is the 15/40/70 combo.

You cannot go wrong with the 15 Ltd and the 70 Ltd. They are both amazing in my opinion.

My favorite lens might be the 40 Ltd. The 40 Ltd was known as a "pancake" before the newer lens came out. I don't know much about the new one, but I believe it is designed specifically for the K-01. I will leave that issue up to Pentaxians more knowledgable on the the issue.

As usual, which lenses to purchase depends on your shooting style. But my two most used landscape lenses are the 15 and the 40 (I use the 70 primarily for portraits). If I was to start out with 2 lenses, I would choose the 15 and 40 (the 70 doesn't see as much time on the K5 due to my shooting style - which is mostly street, landscape, and travel). If budget allows, I wouldn't hesitate to get all three - it makes an awesome combo.

@Besta - I have no regrets about selling the 17-70. I have the 15, 21, 35, 40, and 70. I usually don't take all with me. Depending on my needs I get by just fine with just 3 (15/40/70, 15/35/70, 21/40/70) or even 2 (15/40, 21/40, 21/70), or sometimes one (21, 35, 40).

@bonaprof - It depends on what primes you have. I don't think you need a zoom, as I get along fine with just my primes. I shoot pictures of my son primarily with the DA40. Very fast focus, excellent IMO for almost any people shots besides group photos. I bought the DA21 primarily for an all purpose lens in place of a zoom. Wide enough for group shots, close focusing ability, and perhaps long enough for general snapshots. I haven't used this lens much in this capacity yet - so I can't give it a "full" endorsement for this use yet...

Good suggestion on the F-5XB, but I was hoping for something even smaller.

The bag I already have is the Tamrac Adventure Messenger 4 (Tamrac - Model 5534 - Adventure Messenger 4). The F-5XB does not look substantially smaller.

I used to own the Pentax 17-70. I thought it was a great zoom lens. I opted for it over the Sigma 17-70 primarily due to the stellar Photozone review.

However, I would also consider just taking your primes. I sold the 17-70 and now only use primes. I know you said you were conscious of your fellow travelers' patience while changing lenses. However, I just did a trip to Italy with seven people (wife, brother, parents, and in-laws) and had no problems. Of course it depends on how you shoot, but I could just leave the 15mm or 40mm on most of the time. It only takes a little foresight. For instance, I would change lenses while waiting in lines or while walking in uncrowded areas.

I love my DA 15mm. Not sure if it would be wide enough for you, as the zooms obviously offer wider focal lengths.

But the compactness, build quality, and image quality are excellent in my opinion -- great for urban environments and travel.

I am looking for the smallest case for a K5 with a DA limited attached and one extra DA limited. For instance, the DA15 on the body and the DA40 in the case (or vice versa), or the DA21 on the body and the DA70 in the case.

I already have a small messenger style Tamrac that works great for travel (and I can fit all my limiteds and even a water bottle and/or light rain jacket).

But I would like something smaller just to go around town for street shooting or to a wedding or party.

I have contemplated just getting a new "street" style strap like a Black Rapid and having no case - and just putting the other limited in a pocket. But I would really prefer some sort of protection for the camera. Also, the DA Limited lens case doesn't really work for my needs because you need a larger bag to place it in.

Has anyone found anything like this?

I was thinking of getting a smaller Tamrac - perhaps something like the Model 514 holster (The Official Tamrac Homepage - The leading manufacturer and distributor of camera, photography and camcorder bags) - and just putting the extra lens in the bottom of the holster. Anyone tried this yet?

--Thanks for any insight...

I would vote for the DA 70 as well. It is simply an amazing lens - excellent portraits, magnificent bokeh, etc.

Another advantage is how small and light it is. If you shoot a lot in the 70mm range, it is a can't miss lens. Only downside is it is obviously not as versatile as a zoom...but I only shoot primes...

Wow...amazing purchase. Like most here, I do not have the funds to go out and buy all the FA Ltds in one fell swoop -- congrats!

One thing I will mention - although those are some of the best lenses ever, none of them are "macro." You mentioned you don't think you want to do macro now, but if you ever do, Pentax has a couple of nice choices.

I have the DA 35 Ltd Macro, and I love it. It is one of the most versatile lenses out there. However, your 31 or 43 will essentially cover this range so I will echo Ron's post and concur that you may want to look at the 100mm WR Macro at some point if you ever want 1:1 magnification.

As far as street shooting, I love the DA 21 and the DA 40. I would think the FA 31 (or perhaps FA 43) would do just fine at this task.

I take a small Tamrac shoulder bag. I carefully removed the Tamrac logo, to go slightly incognito. Although not perfect, it works fairly well as sometimes people think I'm local and just carrying a personal bag.

It is fairly versatile. Most recently, I took the K20D, 15, 35, M135 to Japan. I have another full "slot" where I carry my jacket, or a gorillapod, or a water bottle depending on the situation (only one will fit).

Replacing the M135 with the 70 will provide even more versatility...

The 21/40/70 sounds nice and light...
