I think thats a really good point germar, the people who dislike the product are much quicker to complain about it then the ones who have great copies are to brag about it. I'm still waiting on my nikon 18-200mm to sell on ebay before I can reinvest into a 16-50mm (I'm brand changing). But once I make the purchase I'll let you all know how it comes out. Thanks for all the responses!

Thanks mtngal that helps. I assume your returning it and ordering another?
I've been shooting on prime lenses recently (film) and I think I can really appreciate the better glass in the 16-50 than the 18-55. I was considering the 16-45, but I plan on taking this camera snowboarding and the weather sealing is something important to me. I think I'll just do my order and see what happens with the 16-50mm, I live in Connecticut so b&h is only a day or two with ground shipping.

I know there been a LOT of talk about the QC of the pentax 16-50mm. I am about to buy a k20d and was planning on getting the 18-55mm WR, but figured I might as well step up to the more professional quality 16-50mm. Almost all of the QC talk I've seen have been in 2008 and I'm curious if anyone would know if they currently produced lenses are any better? If not is there an easily returnable store I could get a couple until I get a good one? or should I stick with my original plan and get the 18-55mm WR? Thanks in advance!
And sorry if this is posted somewhere else, I tried searching but couldn't find anything.
