K2000(k-m) and Old Flash

The problem with using a flash with a trigger voltage of that size is that it stresses the cameras electronics. Over time, it has the potential to cause premature failure of the cameras electronics. You will not notice any problem until you do, up to that point everything will be just fine. I personnally stay below 6v for a trigger voltage based on my own comfort zone so would us a flash trigger method that protects the camera.

One option is to purchase the Wein safety sync

Good luck

Using one on a digital would be great. I still do stereo cards but use two digital canons and have to assemble in photoshop. With the pentax you could just enlarge the side by side image, crop and view.

I just looked on ebay but the pentax stereo attachment still goes for a lot.

Well, enjoy your new found old toy!

Hello,
Are you referring to the one that attaches to the lens and places a left and right image side by side on the imaging sensor?

If so, I have used a similar attachment and would be happy to try and answer any questions you may have.

Also, there are a number of 3D groups on yahoo groups that have members that may own one. I am a member of photo-3D
photo-3d : True 3D (stereoscopic) imaging.

Hope this helps,

Focussing screens

Agree...And this lead me to is the same reasoning as to why the thickness of the focusing screen should have no affect on the accuracy of where the cameras focuses on the matte surface of the screen.

This leads me to believe that the OEM shim installed in my K2000 camera should work fine for any focusing screen I installed. My experience with the jinfinance screen has so far confirmed this.

Question for WheresWaldo...Have you installed shims that were thinner or thicker than the OEM? Help me understand why the camera would require this since this would put the camera out of design specifications?

Regards,

Focussing screens

Hello,
I have been following the focusing screen threads for some time and seems to be a number of opinions and perspectives.....Here is my experience.....

I just installed a jinfinance screen in my K2000 and did some test. Manual focus is spot on from the test I conducted with my 100mm macro lens.

In looking at the original screen and the jinfinance screen, my conclusion is that with the frosted surface facing the pentaprism and is where the image is projected to from the mirror, screen thickness should have no bearing focusing. Only the shim thickness will have any affect.

In the case of the jinfinance, the screen is 0.005" thicker than the OEM. The copper shim is 0.015" thick,,,, so far my experience is that the or original shim should work for all focusing screens, no matter what thickness of the base material used for the screen.
Is this correct or am I missing something?
Best regards,

I received my digital VERNIER GAUGE MICROMETER today. $10 with free shipping from Hong Kong.....stainless steel, digital read out and a spare battery....How do they do that!!!. It is so cool. anyway.....

Here are the measurements:
OEM screen
26.34mm x 18mm x 1.524mm

jinfinance screen
26.24 mm x 18mm x 1.397mm

OEM shim (copper)
0.381mm (0.015")

The jin finance screen is 0.127mm (0.005") thicker than OEM.

I installed it with the original shim and it appears to match the auto focus. I have emailed jinfinance and requested a 0.254 mm shim. Will see if he sends it. Otherwise will need to fabricate from plastic.

That's all for now.

Hello,
I just picked up a k2000 from B&H and now want to get a focusing screen.
It sounds like you have screens from two different vendors. Did either of you notice a difference in brightness between your original screen and the replacement screen you used?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Regards,
mteetank
