If you don't already have them, I would spend the money on a fast prime and an external flash. You will get awesome indoor portraits, while your son is still young to move too fast. You will need really fast AF in a couple of years anyway. Who knows how much AF technology will improve by then. Just my 2cents.

Needed the pen to support it. The lens is heavy, for its size, and easily tilts the camera forward.

Definitely upper atmosphere turbulence.
This is one of the helpful sites to check the jetstream over your area. Anything to the right of dark blue , on the scale, is not good.

Got the Q yesterday. Had to try it on the moon through my scope, 560mm fl. 5 sharpened image stack using Registax.
