Is there a way to close threads with expired deals? May be at least mark them expired?

If you don't already have them, I would spend the money on a fast prime and an external flash. You will get awesome indoor portraits, while your son is still young to move too fast. You will need really fast AF in a couple of years anyway. Who knows how much AF technology will improve by then. Just my 2cents.

Sorry to hear that. Just a thought, try powering it up from a battery grip or an external supply if you have one.

Nice shots. Would you be able to post some before and after lightroom processing images and the things you did in lightroom. I have always struggled with post processing away light polution. thanks.

I need to trigger K-01 from 30 feet away, and not necessarily from the front where the port is located. Since the camera is IR only, I am thinking of an Ir repeater, like this one. Has anyone tried something like this and does it work? I am open to other ideas as well.

The theme: An exploded star , among a sea of stars
The idea behind the photo is to show an exploded star among a sea of stars. The star in this case is the one that created the Dumbbell nebula. The star before it exploded was probably no bigger than many other stars seen in the photo. The star in it's red gaint stage of life expelled it's outer layers. The gas is expanding through space at tremendous speeds . The remaining white dwarf star in the center is still spewing out gas.
Our sun would explode like this in a few billion years.
The full size image shows much more detail in the nebula.
The equipment:
camera : The yellow brick. K-01, modified by removing the aa-IR filter .
lens: Skywatcher 120ed
focal length: 900mm
aperture: f7.5
mount: celestron cgem
exposure: 30s
number of images stacked: 40 . stacking reduces noise. The brightness of the images remains same as an individual 30s exposed image but the noise goes down a lot.
Location: From my backyard in Fort Collins, CO with moderate city light pollution.
Note: The k-01 would have been even more awesome for astro if it had tethering and/or remote control input.

Isaac did a good job on my cameras. Unfortunately, I got extremely busy after I got back the cameras and didn't get time for actually taking a lot pictures with it. I am a newbie with IR, all photography for that matter, and need to learn processing skills. Mine was the first K01 he converted. Everything worked like before the conversion, dust reduction, shake reduction , auto focus etc..There was a little delay but he told me that before I ordered. I got mine full spectrum converted, with high transmission edmunds glass.

I tested from command line. I was able to change shutter speed and aperture. Changing ISO did not work. Interval shooting works. The most important thing for me, the Bulb mode does not work. It doesn't fire in bulb mode, with both "press and hold" and "press twice" settings.

That wouldn't work. The wired remote only works like holding the down the release button, one of the two modes, for long exposures. The wireless doesn't work like that, you have to fire it once to start the exposure and fire it again to make it stop. Well..it would work but you will have to wait for the length of the exposure for your next shot. I am on the look out for a solution as well. The built in interval exposure doesn't work in bulb. It would have been perfect if it did.

I have a K10D with version 1.30 firmware. The MODSET file did not work, for the first two steps.
However, I searched and found instructions, on this site, for entering debug menu.
a. power on while holding play and ok buttons.
b. then quickly press Fn -> Fn -> INFO -> MENU buttons in that order.
Don't have to enter the debug menu. Scroll through the options and there are "LENS ROM SAVE" and "LENS ROM LOAD From FIle" . Highlight them and press OK to save the file and load the modified file. It worked for my 16-50mm.
thanks Clover.

Have you used the o-gps? Looking for some pros and cons comparision between the two. How sturdy a tripod does the Astrotrac need.
