I printed out the online manual for my K20 and read it about 3 times before I even got the camera delivered!

Happy Holidays Pentax Forums!
I got the 2013 Nexus 7 this year and what a little beauty it is. It has a beautiful screen and is fast and powerful. The voice command feature is really nifty. My first Android device and I'm really loving it.

Correction, because of differences in the distance to the register, M39 lenses do NOT work on a Pentax DSLR when stepped up to M42. So scratch that. I did assemble a gallery of my favorite Helios samples here: Helios Bokeh - a gallery on Flickr ((Adorama is still taking orders for them to be shipped later!))

Very tempting, it looks great, but I already have the Sigma 30mm 1.4 and I just got a Super Tak 28mm 3.5 M42 on eBay for $49! :-)

Welcome to the Pentax Forums
Hi, OP here. The adapter finally arrived today - 7 days later (way to NOT go, USPS) - It is VERY small and was sent in a large but flat envelope. No way it can cost that much to mail to India. I'd guess more like 10 or 15 dollars U.S. Also, when I said up to $60 on eBay, that was only the HIGHEST price I saw. It's around for less than that. Or, as someone else suggested, buy several of the cheaper ones, keep the best and/or modify it for dedicated use on a particular M42 lens.
Then you can hit the streets of the huge M42 mount market. You might even try a M39 mount and using a step-up ring. Yeah Baby!
P.S. - It's made in the Philippines

And the whole beautiful point of the adapter is to utilize the huge back catalog of M42 lens that may be found for poor man prices. This single device reclaims the PENTAX Brand as the top value leader imho .If Pentax wanted to they'd encourage this thrift by producing these in quantity and promoting the legacy glass. Pentax really wins this aspect hands down.

Today Adorama shipped me my genuine Pentax B Adapter to mount M42 screwmount lenses onto K mount cameras. Been hunting for one awhile now. B&H says they are discontinued and they go for up to $60 on eBay. Now I can start looking in earnest for a Helios 44 :) - which one was it that has the swirly boheh? OK, not to leave a wrong impression here on this lens, if you can deal with some quality control issues, and the aspherical aberrations or coma, and can fine adjust the focus on your body - I added +4 - then all in all this thing is A-OK at the $350 price level. At $500 there's better things to look at, IMHO. 3 stars

I'm still having problems with focus on my copy of this lens. I'm starting to think I should have it calibrated to my camera. I know I can try the fine adjust focus on the very clever in camera system, but I'm not sure I have the skill to do a proper focus test. I live in NYC, surely there's someplace I can walk it in? Adorama where I got the K5, or B&H where I got the Sig 30?

Very informative! This information has put me at ease with these issues, which I will now consider just quirks of the design. I guess I'll keep it! Thanks for the help!

They are Christmas lights, not sure if they are LEDs... here's the full image: (and you can see that misshapen bokeh too) |

Hello fellow Pentaxians
I recently got a new Sigma 30mm 1.4 from B&H and didn't really use it much till now. Now there are some issues I've noticed that are causing me to consider returning it. The attached image shows the aperture blades are not uniform. There seems to be one blade that isn't in place. This causes some of the bokeh at certain apertures to be lopsided and misshapen.
The other thing is that strange circular pattern in the bokeh. I tried cleaning the inner surface of the lens, but it's still there. Any other owners of this lens have these issues? Any idea if it's a problem with this lens or just my copy? Would you return it over this? I appreciate any thoughts Forum members have. Thanks in advance.

I have it on backorder at B&H for the $349.00 price. Should go nicely on my new K5! I often find myself using manual focus anyway, so the lack of HSM doesn't bother me much.
