You might try it with SR turned off since you are using a tripod.

I think Pentax lens pricing is so screwed up that it is difficult to make any sense out of it.........

I have done a lot of shooting in the past with my FA 50 1.7 and more recently with a K24mm 2.8. and those two can handle a lot of situations for me. One suggestion, I recently acquired a near mint M135 3.5 for about $30 (fleabay)....it is surprisingly small and I am really enjoying it. So maybe consider a three lens kit?

Yea, the hike can get you. Last fall I was out with a group of college kids and one fell about 20ft. Broke bones in one foot and fibula in opposite leg....we carried him out in a basket. Overall, he (and I) were really lucky!

Hey Workingdog,

The day was overcast and I used a polarizer to cut some of the light, and a tripod. I actually did not get many photos of the different waterfalls....the family is too impatient!

Nice to see these comments. I especially like the Beatax video. It would be pretty remarkable if Pentax could incorporate some of the old Beatles videos and images into a new ad series. I bet the Beatles could still help sell a few cameras....likely more than Ashton.....

Any comments on the technical and aesthetics of this image are appreciated. No PP as of yet. Did not record aperture - likely was f8 or f11.

Hi All,

I was visiting the Baltimore inner harbor for a day with my family and we stopped by the Hard Rock Cafe to for lunch. We sat down - starting looking at all the stuff on the wall and I saw this across the room from us. Reflections and lighting were a pain...

I recently acquired a SMC Pentax M* 300mm f/4 from Tim. The lens is immaculate as described, well packaged and mailed promptly. I would be happy to purchase again from Tim, if I had any money left. : )

K200D and WR lenses

Hi Kyteflyer.

I am having similar thoughts. I really like my K200D and can't afford a K5. I am looking at getting a WR lens to go with it. From the recent review on this site, the 18-135mm tends to be a bit sharper than the 18-55mm. IMO it will be easier to carry the one lens if it will meet most of your needs. I will likely get that the 18-135mm to replace my 18-55mm, and then pick a prime for the wide angle (15mm Limited) and a 300mm or so for the telephoto end.

There is also a recent review of the 50-200 WR on this site - check the Professional Review page. Unfortunately you cannot directly compare the images between the 18-135 WR and the 50-200 WR reviews but you can compare both lenses with the 18-55.

Cheers

Hi Gerrys,

I have been looking at prices for this lens for quite a while and the $749 price has been the going street price for some time. It is a significant markdown from the list price but is not really an exceptional deal imo. I have borrowed this lens in the past and really loved the images that it gave me.

I have an old Focal lens that looks very similar, and made in Korea.....I picked it up about 1985 or 86 at the same time I purchased a K1000 from K-Mart. I'll dig it out when I get home.
