Why is it surprising that a K-70 with some new parts costs more than a K-70 did when it was first released? If you built a house in 2016, I guarantee you cannot build the same house today for the same price -- even if nothing changes at all. Inflation calculators show a 24 percent increase from 2016 compared to 2022. This inflation hits all of the components that you used to make cameras.
I get a little aggravated when people come up with a list of new features that they think should be instituted on the KF, all while raising prices negligibly. That wasn't ever in the cards. The KF will be a solid photographic tool capable of capturing very nice still images, just like the K-70 was. If there are no aperture block issues, then I would have no issue recommending it to a beginning photographer.

Yeah, this is beyond silly - and unrelated to the specific product, firmware or action these guys are taking offense at.
Perhaps it's just frustration at Pentax moving slowly. But it's unfair and counterproductive.
To those folks, if they happen to read this: Pentax isn't your slaves. Lashing them with a whip to work faster and "better" - for a random, ever changing definition of "better" doesn't work.

Take a look at the K-3iii, how does it compare against the D500? I expect it would be the same with the K-1iii; Pentax won't develop a new SAFOX module for it (except for - I hope - enlarging the AF area), nor a new processor.
That doesn't mean the K-3iii isn't better in some regards than the D500, or that the K-1iii wouldn't similarly be better in some regards than the D850. We're talking here about the areas where Pentax was the weakest: performance.
Matching the D850 in performance* is IMO a good target.
* except, probably, card writing speed - because I believe they'd stay with SDs.

You’ve reported to the FTC that a company won’t warrant something they specifically say they won’t warrant?
I expect you won’t hear back from them until they have stopped laughing.
Do keep us posted though.

I think his point is that by continuing to support legacy glass like the 31mm, 43mm and 77mm, they are hampering sales of K-AF4 lenses.
We just have to look at reality to see how wrong this is. Canon didn't really hurt their sales by continuing support for pre digital EF glass when digital came along, but they killed sales of EF equipment entirely to people who had made a significant investment in FD glass by kicking those users to the curb.
Nikon didn't kill sales of new D lenses by continuing to support old glass.
I can only speak for myself, but since 2003 when I bought my *istD, I have gone on to purchase 22 new lenses from Pentax, most of which I already had similar focal lengths in legacy glass.
I'm not seeing how support for A series and older lenses has hurt Pentax in my case, but I am certain that had Pentax dropped support for older lenses with the advent of digital we wouldn't be having this conversation as I would be shooting with a different brand.
In my case, Pentax would have lost all of those lens sales plus the sales of 7 camera bodies. My personal example may be on the extreme end, but my guess is it's more common than not.

What on earth are you talking about, Broo? Never mind two beers, reckon you've had enough, back away from the keyboard! :)
While hearing people say they were limited by what their wallets could do, and that Pentax had a cheerful cheap reputation when they bought their first body, I have repeatedly said that even if the K-3 or K3-II launched at $1200, that was impossible for the K-3 III with other than a re-skin or incremental improvement on old technology. This is a new platform with new systems.
People have said they can buy a K-1 for $1900, and I shrugged my shoulders and said they should buy whichever of the two they liked. If they went from a K-3 to a K-1 skipping the K-3 III but buy additional full frame lenses, that's a win for Ricoh!

I think it would kill the company not save it. There will aways be people that people an OV. The people who will switch to use an OV is potentially larger than those who want one but haven't purchased one yet.

The youngest black FA limited I own (FA 77) was purchased new when the K-3ii was released. The finish on that lens is similar to the finish on all of of my black lenses - smooth and a little like a lustre paper finish. The silver FA 31 has a more textured finish as does the HD 20-40.

The silver finish on aluminum is anodized, so very durable, the silver finish on plastic is a paint....
