I posted earlier how I liked the DA35 f2.4, well I spent half Wednesday with my new DA50 f1.8 on the camera and my toddler in the carrier on my back for our town's special day ;) it wroked really well and allowed a bit more in your face shooting. (bucket link) (all jpeg from camera I underexpose and edit the RAW later)
Anyway given how light these plastic fantastics are my carry on Wednesday was, Toddler in carrier on my back,
K-5 + DA50 in hand, DA35 (unused) in pocket, Tamron 17-50 (unused) in baby carrier pocket, batteries and memory cards in pockets.

DA35 f2.4 I'm loving this lens at the moment, 4.4oz and good value.
And perhaps some kind of zoom either a good copy of the WR18-55 or I have the Tamron 17-50mm.
And stitch of three DA35 f2.4 into the sun hand held images via Hugin. |

The Tamron 70-300 can be found pretty cheap, not great at the long end and liable to purple fringing but the macro/close focus would be an addition to your options. I've seen plenty of excellent images from this lens. Use it as a stepping stone to the DA/DAL 55-300.
Some of the other F range zooms might be worth a look. 35-135 and 70-210.
I'd recommend getting the DA35 f2.4 as it is such fun and the image quality superb for the money. It might be out of your price range though. It is in your focal length norm.

I'd just create a new set of mirrorless lenses, a bit like they have created a new set of lenses for the Q. Then I'd make a KAF3 adapter, offering all the bells and whistles, at a reasonable price. So any new lenses would be pretty much backward compatible but forward looking.

you buy a cheap bridge camera from ebay use it, remind yourself why you like a DSLR, wish you'd taken the pics with a better sensor, and sell it for a profit when your baby comes back.

No, in all respects the lens was fine. Focus was as it should be. Just with the lens off the camera the focus ring was not 100% smooth. It would snag in a couple of places. I stopped using it pretty quick and sent it off for assessment. The repairer quoted and I agreed. If you don't want the repair you need to pay postage back. So at worst you're looking at 2* freight costs to see (expert repairer) if it is the lens that's wrong. Here in the UK it would have been about £16.
Keep on looking.....

my 17-50mm became notchy when testing the focus manually. It would still work but I sent it off for repair anyway. Some £2.50 component had broken or worn out inside. It's back, repaired and works as I expect, pretty good IQ.
Also it has been calibrated for focus and is better than before.
EDIT: they replaced the Focus Drive Coupler

Hello,
Help please!
Does anyone have an electronic (or paper) copy of the instruction book for EF-500 SUPER flash? (not the DG).
Or a link to one on the WWW.
All my attempts have failed.
Thanks
Doug
