We'd had some snow in Zurich at the beginning of the week but yesterday was clear so took the afternoon off work and took a train up Uetliberg (15min from Zurich centre) to take some photos. These are a few:

I've now had my K20D for a few months and the encouragement and positive comments I got from my first posted photos I thought I'd give it ago again. All the pictures were taken in Luzern, Switzerland with the kit 18-55. Any comments or tips would be most appreciated. Many thanks for looking,
Dave.

Problem is my first language is English but maybe I've slowly turned Germanic over the years. Anyway it seems us Europeans get the short straw, I'll be up at 1am to take my photo whereas the Americans get the nice evening light and the people in Oceania get the morning light! Seems somewhat unfair to me! ;)
PS I know what you mean about the times, took me 6 months to get it right!

Adam is correct. A day starts at midnight (12.00am), so midnight on the 17th October is the transition from Friday to Saturday. So (ignoring daylight saving):
London 12.00am Saturday 17th Oct
Central Europe 1.00am Saturday 17th Oct
Sydney 10.00am Saturday 17th Oct
New York 7.00pm Friday 16th Oct
LA 4.00pm Friday 16th Oct
Hope that helps (and I'm right)!

Hi all. These are my first ever DSLR pictures (if I've managed to upload them!) taken with my week old K20D and the 18-55mm kit lens. They aren't in the same league as most posted images here but comments, suggestions and tips would be greatly appreciated so I can improve my skills. Many thanks for looking, Dave.

Hi goddo31,
I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Zurich - it's a great place for photography, especially with the Alps so close. Hopefully I'll be posting some photos at the weekend to try and get some pointers from all the pro's on here ;). It seems to be a big learning curve coming from a bridge camera, but it's all good fun.
cheers,
dave

Hi all,
I'm an Earth Science PhD student at ETH Zurich. I've been reading the forum for three months or so while I was deciding what my first DSLR would be (Nikon vs. Pentax). I'm now a proud owner of a K20D and absolutely loving it.
cheers,
david
