Sand bags, LOL. We don't need no stinking sand bags! OK, there were a few low streets that the sand bagged off, but Downtown is built on the bluff, so there's very low risk for actual damage to the buildings downtown. I kind of want to shoot these again around August, to show the difference in water height.
As far as the color tones... Unintentional.

Decided to shoot some night shots while the Mississippi River was a bit swollen. HAd a lot of fun, but bummed some of the shot I took were not in focus (not included).
Would love to hear feedback on the shots, or what I should be doing differently. |

Can't that be reported to Ebay? That sure seems odd to me!

I ended up buying the Metz, and I'm very glad I bought this over the Pentax AF200! But... I was shooting some pics of my daughter and when I went to shoot a portrait shot, I was instantly thinking "Man, I wish this thing would swivel"
Once I get a few more shots under my belt, and get a little more comfortable with the camera, I'll likely upgrade the flash - Just don't tell the wife, LOL :D

LOL! I think I found the problem anyway. I think I was rubbing up against the trigger on the grip. Hasn't hiccuped once since.

Hmm, mine hiccuped the other night (DA 18-55). I've got 5 days to send it back, and now I'm thinking I should before the lens bricks completely on me.

So I'm trying to figure out exactly what this setting does, and is there a way to confirm when its been done?
Does it take 2-9 photos, then stack them together, or does it just take on photo?
I know I can't be in green mode to access it, but how can I confirm a shot has been taken this way?
I'm totally confused by this...

Hmm, something to think about for sure! I hadn't thought of using a flash not mounted to the camera. I kind of like that idea.
The search continues...
PS. Matt, what a great guide!!!!

Wow, I must be a fanboy of sorts, because choosing a camera other then a Pentax was out of the questions. My only choice was the K10D or the K100D.
And the reason I was reading this thread? Trying to figure out why Nat Cam didn't carry many Pentax's and google lead me here, lol.

OK, in my quest for a nice flash, I'm running into a few road blocks. I found a Pentax AF-200FG at National Camera Exchange, but the help was so horrendous, that I left. I probably could have walked out with the darn thing in my hand, since the guy put it on the counter and left me standing there for about 10 minutes. Anywho...
After looking over that flash, I think I want one that has an adjustable bounce angle. My problem lies with my cheapness. I really don't want to spend much more than about $100 for the flash, I might bend a bit on that but not by much.
So, in searching I'm coming up with the following flashes.
Pentax AF-200FG $89.00 (not loving this flash)
Vivitar 285HV $89.97 (this is what I am leaning towards)
Digital Concepts $119.99 (no model number, ebay special, but not shipping from China)
My photography will be mostly interior rooms and such, and occasionally I'd like to be able to shoot some nice pics of the kids.
I'm also not opposed to looking for a used or demo flash if such a thing exists.
Ideas, opinions?

I bought a used Pentax grip locally tonight and it came with two batteries. I under estimated a bit on how big this camera is(especially with the grip), but I like it!
I also just bought a new lens on ebay as well, I bought a Pentax SMC DA 18-55mm. It didn't come with a hood or the original caps, but I got a pretty fair price on it.
Anywho... Is there a way to buy the Pentax branded hood and caps?

LOL, that's gonna be tough. I found a slightly used battery grip locally, along with a flash. I'm now looking for a good quality lens (around $300) for everyday shots.
The camera came in today and I was a little surprised at it's size, it's a bit bigger than I was expecting, but that's just fine by me.
Now I just need to get home!

So it looks like I'll be searching for a genuine Pentax grip, that's what I needed to know. Especially since it "plugs" in to the camera, I can just imagine something going wrong.
As for the rest of the stuff, I've bought camera parts from China and Hong Kong before, so I'm used to the wait. I've also bought a power cord for a notebook, and the darn thing gets so hot, it could probably start a fire (I don't use it anymore).

So I've searched a bit, but I didn't really find a conclusive answer...
I see a lot of accessories coming out of China at pretty attractive prices (grips, flashes, remotes, etc...)
Is there a hidden hazard I should be worried about when purchasing a $50 grip coming out of China? (other than lead poisoning)
Or is the problem more along the lines of being made fun of at a Pentax party?

Hey everyone,
I just bought a K10D from BestBuy.com and can't wait until I get it in my hands. I've had a Pentax 35mm SLR for about 12 years and it's been getting dusty, it will be nice to use the lenses again.
When the world converted to digital, I lost my way, buying point and shoot cameras. So I'm happy to be returning to the SLR world!
