Enjoyed the verbal as well as the visual! A beautiful, relaxed squirrel. Jen :)

Thanks very much for your kind comments :). I had just gone for a couple of days Vrrattko and was very lucky with the weather - lots of cloud but not a lot of rain (as shown) - it's a beautiful country and I'm fortunate not to live too far away. Jen :)

I like this image very much, the composition is great, the colours are natural looking, the barn is an interesting building with lots going for it, and you have some leading lines which take the eye through the picture to glimpse the hay field at the back. The tree on the left helps to frame it all. I like the way the light is falling on the hay too but having said that, if I were to change anything it would probably be the time of day you took the picture so that you don't have such strong shadows obscuring some of the barn wall. Nice photo. Jen :)

Thanks for your comments. I agree its a tad soft (it is quite a harsh crop) and would have preferred no clouds, but that's welsh weather for you - just glad it wasn't raining! Jen :)

I really like this picture, you have captured his intense gaze and serious, thoughtful expression very well and the colours in his robes and the way they are draped forming shadows and folds are wonderful. It is a bit unfortunate that there is a slight green tinge to the side of his face, but apart from that I think its a great image. Jen :)

Thanks for all your comments, duly noted. The roof was slate grey, and the reason it's cropped close was because the trees ended and the sky was very light. I've always been told not to have a very light area close to the edge of the picture as it draws the eye to it. Jen :)

Thank you for your comments, I can see what you mean. Dark images seem to be a recurring theme for me and needs working on. It was a bit of a snap shot as I'd been mugged by a gull for my sandwich a few minutes before taking this and one could easily have been the guilty party! Jen

Nice picture, but I would have been tempted to crop out the house on the right. It takes away from the main subject of the castle and the lovely lead in line of the pathway up to it. Jen :)

Thanks for your comments. Is this preferable? I had put a little sepia toning in the first one which does look a bit pink, or did you mean leave out the colour in the flowers too?

An experiment with the saturation and colour sliders in the raw conversion - what do you think?

I like the colours too. My version (with the same title!) has less colour but much the same stance.....

Thanks for the tips Tim, and I know exactly what you mean about the viewfinder. I think there may be a viewfinder imp - gives things a tweak when you're not looking! I will try the border next time :)

You are quite right of course, Ash, it isn't snow. However I would still cut it off at the level of the lower curved track on the left so you still have the lead in lines bringing the eye to the branch which seems to be the main focus of the picture. However, that is of course just my opinion :)

I think the central position of the table is right for this, it allows space for your imagination to place the two diners - 'Daz and Dany' - either side.

I found it worked better for me if I cut off a good third of the bottom of the picture. I could concentrate on the rather nice tracery of the branch against the snow.
