Thanks for that, and a pricedrop on the FA31 ($825 out the door). It's in perfect condition save for a little wear on the lens cap, and it comes with a MC B&W Filter.

It's a sad day, but I'm putting my K5 and FA31 on the block. The long and short of it is: this auction is for a K5, FA31 and a pile of goodies that have all been lightly used and are in excellent condition. Reason for selling is that my K5 has been largely a secondary camera since I'm usually using a FF from work (for shame!). The shutter is currently at 1453 and I have had zero issues thus far.

*Shipping paid by buyer (whatever the preferred speed/service)

I'm asking $1000 for: (SOLD)
- Pentax K5 (original box and all contents)
- Pentax extended 2 yr war
- Zeiss Pancolar 1.8/50mm mint condition (with m42 adapter and B&W Multicoated Filter)
- 32GB SD
- 1 extra Battery (D-LI90 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.2V, 1860mAh))

and I'm asking $825 for the FA31, which is in excellent condition with only slight wear on the lens cap. (Price Drop)
it also comes with a B&W Multicoated Filter (58mm UV Haze 010 F-Pro Filter)

Any idea as to how soon you have to buy this in relation to the original purchase for it to pertain to your K5?

Totally in agreement here, you can't put the genie back in the bottle imo, so why even try to have that argument.

I guess it's hard for those who have not seriously been into the professional film/video production market to understand how desirable removable lenses are in that area (and how much of a premium access to that ability used to demand) That said, I do understand how one could feel like their space has been invaded :)

I've seen CP+ being mentioned a bit around the forum, so it seems like a thread might be in order. Anyone have any info about the possibilities? (obviously the top threads in the forum speak to that) Anyone on the forum actually going?

Only about two weeks to go: CP+ 2011 :)

Not that I think the DA 15 limited is a bad lens (quite the opposite), but it is a different build than the FA limiteds: aperture ring, materials, not full frame compatible, etc.

I know it's probably rubbish, but I would love to see a super wide with the same build as the 31/43/77. One can dream....

Working with K5 Video

So I know alot of people are referencing the few K5 HD clips floating around, but I think we need a place to discuss best practices in terms of working with K5 videos. I've had my K5 since the release and while I love the camera, the video quality really is touchy in terms of how to get smooth results with no artifacts / moire.

Anyway, my goal currently is to overcome the large amounts of moire that are produced from panning, heavy motion, handholding, etc. Anyone out there have a good solution, other than buying a camera with in-camera filtering.

Has anyone tried a Caprock Anti-moire on their K5/K7?

Cheers,
George

Sorry but I didn't note the LCD number when I had the crash. I just figured it was locked up and dropped the battery :-/

The sound that the camera makes when in Liveview persisted continually once it was locked up, not sure if that helps in comparison.

Same problem here on the first day when switching into video mode. Froze up, had to remove the battery. I'm guessing that first firmware update addressed some of these issues...

I haven't had the issue after the first time it happened, and I haven't yet updated the firmware. (and yes my Pentax battery was fully charged)

So I'm totally pumped to be sticking it out with Pentax and I love my K-5, but it does hurt a little reading the general lens news. Perhaps if I moan and groan a bit, Cosina will produce a K mount variant of the new Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95 :p

Here's hoping!

note: the 16-135 WR should be released any day now, rather than buying two separate lenses...
