You can try this place located in Kenmore Washington which is about 30 miles north of Seattle.
They do carry Pentax and I would be surprised if they did not have the K-1. Kenmore Camera |

HI Adam,
I am using the K-3. The lighting conditions are adequate, very bright in most situations. I know the 150mm-450mm is a different beast, but better to have a lens that works, compared to a lens+converter that works sometimes.

Hello,
I have been having problems with focus on the DA* 300mm when paired with the HD Pentax-DA AF Rear Converter 1.4x AW. It will hunt and hunt and never lock on to the subject, doesn't matter what lighting condition or situation. It's seems very random. I am using single point focus mode. I have no problems with the DA* 300mm lens by itself, so I wonder if the converter is faulty. I have not tried it on any other lens.
I have only had the converter for 5 months. Is my converter faulty? I know other people have had issues with this. What is my recourse if I want to return it? Will Ricoh take it back or exchange it. I purchased it at Adorama.
I am considering getting the new FF 150mm-450mm f/4.5-5.6 lens and selling the DA*300 mm and converter. B and H has it for $1900.00 today only which is way out of budget but if I sell the 300mm and converter, that would make it financially doable.
Would love peoples opinions and experiences with the converter on the DA 300mm. And also with the new FF 150mm-450mm.

I just let that stuff roll off me. Its true in that if they are confident photographers, they don't really care what others shoot with.
Case in point, I am part of a photo group that meets every month. We have themes each month and present 2 images representing that months theme. Everyone in the group is really nice, but there are a few that think Canon is best or Nikon is best. This last meeting I presented some awesome images, so people asked " What do you shoot with?" Many in the group know I shoot Pentax but we always have newbies. So I told them I shoot with a K-3 and the lens for the images were shot with a 1971 manual lens. (The Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR/Super-Takumar 135mm F2.5)
So every month enjoy proving to them that Pentax makes great cameras, but its more about the person behind the camera, then what you actually shoot with. Confident photographers know this.

I figured it out. I changed the AF to back button autofocus, but wasn't pressing that when I was focusing the manual lenses. Instead i was pressing the shutter button while focusing. I feel dumb now, but at least i figured it out.

When I first started using my K-3 with my manual lenses the camera beeped confirming focus. Now it has stopped doing this and I have no idea why. I must have changed something in the menu, but cant figure out what? Please help.
Another thing I just noticed is that the SR is turned off. When I go into the menu the SR option is greyed out, so I cant turn it on

I have a 2 questions:
1) I have a friend that is switching from Nikon to Pentax (I gave her a little nudge). She just bought the K-3. She is interested in the DA* 60-250. I told her to stay away from the SDM lenses due to failure. I have had 1 fail (DA*50-135mm), and one work sometimes (DA* 16-50mm). The other one that I have has been fine (DA* 300mm), but I have only had it for about 1 year. I would like to hear from people with the DA* 60-250. Have you had any issues with the SDM?
2) As mentioned previously, my DA 50-135 stopped working, I am sure its the SDM failure. There is a local guy that works on cameras and lenses. He is very reasonable, so I feel like maybe I should give him a chance to fix it, instead of shipping it east (I live in Seattle, Wa) to the recommended Pentax repair place. What do you guys think?
Thanks a bunch,
Deb

I had similar frustrations with the K-5, but other than that I loved the camera. I shoot lots of dogs and like to use open apertures, so it was very frustrating. I just got a k-3 2 weeks ago and had a commissioned shoot on Sunday. I shot using 2.5 aperture in low light and the focus was spot on. So far I am very happy, but still want to really test it out, hopefully this weekend.

Must be the person behind the camera that's the problem, not the equipment.

I am a part time Pet Photographer. I was reently hired to photograph a woman and her pets for her blog/website. Normally I offer the Session for $200.00 then they purchase products with the final images such as prints, canvas, etc. which is extra(not included in session fee).
If she is going to use my images then I would request she use watermarked ones, but if does not agree to that then what would I charge for exclusive rights to the images for use on her blog/website?
Is there a contract that i should have her sign?
Thanks,
