It can be as expensive as you want it to be... I haven't bought many lenses, around 1 every 2-3 years, with some big gaps in between, maybe every 5 years?

I find I rarely use most of my lenses, I keep my 18-135 on. I have my trusty K10, and I will be dragging it out now and then, just because I can. Put a WR lens on that, it doesn't owe me anything.

I took some decent pics with the 50mm el cheapo lens not long ago.. just because I had it and was indoors, no flash.

My buddy is a birder, shoots Canon, travels all over for pics. I guess if I drove 8 hours, and searched for hours for that "shot", I would really want the best lens in the world.

Keep having fun, glad to see you are here, lots to do with a camera and this group will really help you..

Suggestions on Removing reflections in glass window from a pic

Well, thank you all for the input!

I am somewhat blown away, but, this is Pentax Forums and nicer group on the 'net I have yet to find!

I will put some effort into these solutions.. I knew at the time we were snapping pics that this was less than optimal, some turned out well, mainly because I could crop out the reflections and the subject was luckily / with some back and forth motion / in the clear.

One pic that worked from the camera with some cropping.

Suggestions on Removing reflections in glass window from a pic

Hi All,

We just did a "Sleep with the Wolves" at a spa / resort in Timmins, Ontario.

It was pretty cool experience, with chalets backing onto a 10 acre area, with 13 wolves. The chalets are at ground level, and the wolves, some of the are curious, come right over to look at us!

It was nearly impossible to get a picture without a reflection, and you are not supposed to touch the glass or make tapping sounds.

Is there a way / software program to eliminate the reflection in this picture? My wife was sitting beside the glass window at the time..

Thanks in advance!

Unreal... I know of a photographer who routinely asks all of their friends and acquaintances to "Vote" for them in any competitive event.

I don't participate. To me, I am amazed that you could advertise to all of your friends and acquaintances that you are willing to cheat to win.

This is taken to an entire higher level.

So true, about covering logos. We had a 95 Jeep Cherokee that was rented for use in a local movie, all the badges and identifiers were taped over with flat black masking tape..

We live approx 4-5 hours north of Toronto, on Lake Nosbonsing.

Converted from an older cottage, this is a super place to live, with great neighbors, scenery, privacy.

A shot of the living room, near Christmas, fire is burning, I can taste the single malt scotch..

Looking for a FLU Card?

Well, I found one for sale in a local camera shop, brand new, in the box, and BOUGHT IT.

I want one of these because I expect my SD card slot to fail, if I pull a card in and out. This way, no moving parts. My wife has one in her K3 since 2020, its slow but it works. Her K3 did the same thing mine is starting to do.... Seems like the cable method works fine for years.

Thanks for the link, I wondered, did not see that it was discontinued.. oh well, I got lucky and found one.

Thanks for the offer, I found one new in a local store. Will install later today. Appreciate you looking for it!

Looking for a FLU Card?

Hi All,

I am considering buying a FLU card, as the connector on my K3 II seems to be getting erratic, sometimes it just doesn't want to download, and sometimes my PC doesn't seem to see the camera.

Anyways, I don't see a single site with a FLU card for sale? Checked Amazon, B+H, Adorama, Ebay, nothing?

I didn't see anything on the Pentax Website announcing it's discontinued.

Am I just hitting a time when there is no stock anywhere?

Anyone know what's happening?

Thanks!

I believe taken near L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic site. Pretty sure you can see the edge of an iceberg on the left side of the inlet.

Seems like anything old is cool, so, film and DSLR will likely resurge.

I have both a K3 and K3 Mk2.. I use a DA 18-135, a DA 16-45, the prime DA 50, a DA*300, a Sigma 70-200, and a Sigma 17-70 C. No issues with focus, except the Sigma 70-200 on the K3 Mk2, which sometimes works and other times I have to turn off and then it resets and works perfectly - seems weird, as the Sigma 70-200 works perfectly on the K3 ( first version ).

I would say your K3 needs service, and, there is some adjustment ability to fine tune the lens to the camera.

What's with the pathetic tripod socket on cameras?

If you plan on leaving your tripod adapter plate on the camera, get a small amount of double sided tape.

Quite likely that will stop rotation. A pin is the best, speaking as a guy who used to design tooling, fixturing and machinery for a living

I ended up being the main "instructor" at a local camera club, and it was really strange to find that most people had NO IDEA on how to change simple settings, such as ISO, Aperture or Shutter speed. Once it was explained to them, they could not FIND the controls to change settings! These were mainly Nikon and Canon... I sat down with many of these people and their cameras, and was surprised at how difficult it could be to change those basic settings. Pentax has great user interface

I had a Zenit slr given to me by my dad, and in highschool joined the photography club.About 40 years ago.
I ended up using the highschool Pentax camera ( too long ago to remember which model ) and took yearbook pics with it. Thru the lens metering!! Whoa!!!
I bought a new K10D, and since then my wife has a KX, I upgraded to a K3 Mk2 and she now shoots with my K3 Mk1.
Many years of trouble free pics, lenses. A few friends have since bought Pentax, and 1 bought a Canon, and still regrets it.

I was going to suggest rice, have heard it works, on cellphones. I have not had firsthand experience myself.
Sounds like lots of great suggestions besides rice.
Don't rush the process, powering up too early could cause problems.
