I guess enough testing has been done, let's see some pictures now :)
We've been lucky with a couple days of really nice light here
and my K-5 and I were enjoying it together...
All taken with my Limiteds.

Hi guys, you might remember me, I have been looking for a compact high quality system for a long time.
At some point I owned a complete Pentax + Limited glass setup, this picture is actually showing what I owned,
I took it and somehow it went viral :D
I recently started my site about travel photography and my favorite cameras, you're welcome to check it out: Lenticular Travel, Best photo locations in the word, miles and points,Lenticular Travel
Anyway, my recent favorite travel camera is Sony RX1R. I'm still waiting for the A7R and will for sure report
how I like it with high quality Leica lenses and some other favorite lenses I own. But RX1R is simply pure magic to me.
I took it on my recent Bora Bora trip and ended up using almost exclusively. This is a small set of my favorite shots.

This whole series is mostly with Leica M 28 Cron and 50 Lux. I think you can tell
which one is which. First image is taken with the new 21 Super-Elmar

I just came back from a great road trip to Oregon coast and Northern California.
A beautiful country, amazingly green. I was hoping for more Rhododendrons,
but came back with a different kind of images :)

What system is that? Please explain it to me. A system based on the large size DSLR lenses requiring a large camera,
but following the philosophy of a modern camera which doesn't require a large size.
I guess it must be a lot of empty space inside...
Sorry, but that system is heading absolutely nowhere :(
There is ZERO excitement about K01. It will not bring Pentax any new users. The only reason it's mentioned is the weird looking design.
Look how excited people are about the new Olympus. And Fuji. And anything NEX. Are you seeing ANY interest in K01 outside this forum?

Somehow looking at this thread, NEX-5N is presented as a "support" camera.
But with the best glass this is a very serious tool.
If you are not into sport or birds, it is all you need.
Please visit my website for more if interested, all my latest galleries are 100% NEX :) light and pictures - travel and landscape photography

I wouldn't trust the reviews that much.
Many people update from a kit lens and get very excited about the new toy.
Look at the ratings, all the lenses are rated 9.8 or higher, what a joke.
You can only trust people who have enough experience with good glass.
I think 15mm Ltd is not that sharp and you might be disappointed
when you get your 2nd copy.
I tested it more today shooting mostly at f8 and it's still nowhere
as sharp as my Zeiss glass is. I know, I should have never bought that damn
Zeiss lenses :)
Look, I played more with the files and found out they are working nicely
with Nik Sharpnerer Pro - RAW Presharpener. I almost never needed to use it
on my Canon Zeiss files, but here it works really well.
I bought my Pentax system for the compact size, I'm not gonna extend it
too much with large lenses. That's why I don't want to buy the 12-24 zoom.
And I'm really happy with my other Limited primes including the 21 which
I think is sharper than the 15. 43, 77 and 70 are really good.
The good thing is the 15 creates good colors and contrast.

I know, many images posted, maybe someone will find those useful...
I tested my FA 77 with the K-5 today and it looks quite good :)
and a bonus: amazing clarity from FA 43 Limited |

I decided to see what the whole noise was about :)
Probably I'm never gonna use anything higher than ISO 800, but maybe I'm wrong?
Man, how wrong I am!
This is an extremely dark scene, backlit - ISO 6400.
Something like that kills many cameras, including 5D MkII.
First you see the full image open in PS CS5, nothing done to it, just
my usual simple adjustments. Some slight NR applied in Camera RAW,
the same I do on all my images.
A 100% crop follows, no additional NR applied, nothing.
The last image is a slightly wider crop of the same image with Topaz Denoise
and my extra work applied.
Quite amazing. This is good for any print, no doubt. |

WARNING - pictures are shown in ProPhoto RGB color space - use
a browser with color management to see them as intended - Safari works the best.
Today I had a chance to test what kind of colors I can get from
my K-5 - Zeiss combo. I know well what I can get from my 5D MkII + Zeiss,
couldn't wait to see if I can get something similar from my Pentax :)
I'm really impressed. It's too early to say, but I see more potential
in my K-5 files than the 5D MkII files. No bending in the shadows.
Much more DR in the shadows. Similar noise characteristic.

I'm not kidding. I'm very impressed. My K-5 came today and I took it for a quick spin
this afternoon. A little background - I've been shooting with Canon and Zeiss glass
system (best Canon glass before that) for a long time, bought into Pentax
because I was impressed with the small size, solid feel and the quality of prime Limiteds.
But the image from my K-7 wasn't exactly what 5D II was giving me. It kind of
limited my Pentax use. I shoot mostly landscape/travel, low ISO, love color,
vibrance, strong saturation. Please visit my website to get an idea: light and pictures - travel and landscape photography
So I decided to buy K-5 and I have to tell you guys, this is 5D II + best Zeiss glass
territory. I tried my DA Limited lenses today and the clarity of the image is quite
exceptional. Obviously those are my first impressions, nothing amazing going on
today so no great sunset, just another boring clear day.
But I know how my files look like and as soon as I opened my first K-5 files,
I knew I'm getting something good here :)
Hard to prove anything with the lowrez examples, but you're gonna demand
to see something anyway, so here it is :)

For some unknown reason popflash shot down their ebay store today.
They are planning to reopen in a month or two.
There is not so many Zeiss ZK lenses left out there, so their timing for
the potential buyers is not that good.
You can try to contact them directly if interested, but they don't even have those
lenses on their webpage anymore.
