I was riding in the passenger seat of a car. We were approaching a 3 way intersection and we had the green light. I remember looking up at the light as we were approaching it. Then, at the same time, me and my friend saw a truck coming at us from the side at a high rate of speed. She immediately applied the brakes as hard as she could. There was nothing else we could do because it all happened so fast.

My natural reaction was to turn away from what was about to hit me. I twisted towards my friend and the impact happened. I was slammed back into the door which caved in, along with the floor around my feet. We were hit so hard from the side that it pushed us into the oncoming lane and head on with another car, sending that car spinning backwards. The last thing I remember seeing was my window shattering, and the airbag hitting me as my vision went black. I was knocked unconscious. My friend thought I was dead, and said that she tried to get me to wake up for 3 to 4 minutes before I responded. I woke up to see my friend fall to the ground. Her adrenaline was going so much that she didn't even know she was injured until she tried to get out.

My door was smashed closed, and I had to have assistance from the ambulance climbing out through the drivers door. I had so much glass in my arm, that I was dripping blood. I am now going to therapy for back problems that I will have to deal with for the rest of my life, and I have permanent hearing damage in my right ear. My friend is dealing with broken bones. The police said that if the impact was 9 inches further back, I would have been dead. The other trucks bumper barely caught our front wheel and pushed us, rather than trying to drive through us any further than it did. Witnesses say that they saw the other person on their phone, and that they never even applied the brakes before hitting us.

I am lucky to be alive and feel like I have been given a 2nd chance at life.

From Feb thru April, they were here in non-breeding plumage. I've not yet to see one in breeding plumage.

If you told me that and asked me which bird it was, I would never know. They act so differently here. I've seen them perched 3 feet off of the ground singing away.

Different shot of the same bird I posted previously:

That's the only way I can get close to Scissor-Tailed Flycatchers. If I am on foot, they see me from a distance, and just move a little further away, keeping a pretty big gap between us.

It's a different story here. Probably because I am on the coast, catching them as their coming in during migration, and they're more concerned with food and rest than humans. That's my guess at least. Last year, we had a large group of Hooded Warblers come in, and they were so tired that they were sitting down on the ground right at our feet.

Interesting. I only see them during the Spring migration, and they are usually at ground level, or a few feet up from there looking for food. If ever you have the chance, you need to see their blue color just as the sun is going down. It really stands out.

I think that my DA*300/4 is dying ! Please tell me what you think - see details.

Are you using the 1.4 converter? I ask about the 1.4 converter because when mine started to die, I got that buzzing sound you describe, though it never tried to go into screw drive. I took the converter off, the buzzing stopped happening, and it died a slow quiet death.

When the SDM in my DA*300 started to die, it either would not focus at all, or it would start to focus, but stop before it ever locked focus. Sometimes, I would have to spin the focus ring from lock to lock and try again and it would start working again. Eventually, it just completely quit.

First tests with my Penta-sonic setup

Thank you for the info in both posts.

I'm totally fine with not being able to use the Panasonic batteries in the Pentax. I did notice that the Panasonic battery wouldn't seat. I have a good amount of Pentax batteries, so it works out.

Video is a new realm for me, so I have alot to learn as far as getting a setup together and actually shooting the video. I've got experience with Sony Vegas Pro 9 editing wedding videos a few years back, just never shot video myself.

I got the GH5 kit with the Panasonic 8-18mm lens. I want have a vlogging setup for commentary or whatever, as well as shooting wildlife. If it's anything like my Pentax equipment, i'll have a setup for shooting everything in the end.

Thank you. I've been busy with other projects. I still browse here, just haven't made any posts. I still shoot regularly, just haven't uploaded much at all. With the Penta-sonic, I wanted to get into wildlife video, and a friend convinced me with her Panasonic. When I learned that I could use all of my Pentax lenses and my Pentax batteries on the body, I was sold.

Panasonic GH5 and DA*300. Using a Novoflex adapter. My intentions are to start a Youtube channel, and use my Pentax glass on this body. Pentax DLI90's also work in this GH5 body.

Here's some first test 4k video shot with it while I learn how to use the body. Coming from 10yrs of Pentax bodies, this is new to me. So far, I am loving the combo for video.

This redwing blackbird was hand held, right from the camera. No editing.

You Tube

This mouse was shot hand held, but I attempted to stabilize it in Shotcut video editor. It made some of the frames look a little jumpy. Open for suggestions on video editing software that doesn't have a monthly charge and can handle 4K.

You Tube

This squirrel was shot using a tripod. There was a hawk flying over and the squirrel knew it.
