Grabbed a Pixel5 late 2020 after three years of good luck (and a moment of bad luck) with a Pixel2. Here are some images from the first week with it. After comparison I don't believe the main camera to be any better but the additional of a wider option is useful at times - image 1 and 3 here - though fixed focus and of lesser image quality. If I get another three years out of it I'll be happy enough. [
This last one was used on the official @GooglePixel Instagram page, NYE 2020. (Yes, they asked permission) |

I've been using a Pixel2 for some time now and despite the obvious limitations am regularly impressed by the things it does well. Having such a tool to hand is retaining my interest in photography during a period of life that doesn't permit the usual practice or pursuit.

Shame, though totally expected as it always seemed a bit half baked/underdeveloped/wilfully obtuse. I had a J1 then picked up a V1 even cheaper that still gets some use, can be a bit lacking in some departments but the AF and metering remain impressive today and the burst rate can be a boon for picking your moment: Jazz Hands by digitalCG, on Flickr Eskimo Kiss by digitalCG, on Flickr ...must come down. by digitalCG, on Flickr
Always wanted to try the FT1 adapter, guess it might be the time to find one.

Long time no post, need to have a proper catch up with this thread. 2015 has been a blur so far, work/life balance completely wrong. Should change soon...

Spent a bit of time in Dallas late October just gone, missed the state fair by a week or two. Temps were into the 60's Fahrenheit on average, enough to keep us Brits in t-shirts and the locals in light jackets. :)

Pioneer Plaza was also worth a look, no photos online of that yet.

Good news about a Pentax FF for those who have patiently been waiting. Meanwhile, as a ship-jumper...
Just before Christmas a great band called Hope & Social played 12 gigs in 12 hours around Leeds City Centre. Four of us tagged along, alternating music with beer (plus a little photography for me)

If any doubt remains, why not look up an existing example?
Officially the D800 has a 36.1MP sensor with 25MP 1.2x crop mode and 15.4MP DX crop (Nikon speak for APS-C) mode.

Shame, have my eye on that lens, looks like a lot of bang for the buck and certainly easier to carry around than a fast telephoto zoom. Nothing wrong with those images :)
Two from me, first is Thanksgiving Chapel in Dallas and the second a random half naked guy in Grand Central.

I was in the US last month and (surprise surprise) they didn't have my prebooked, prepaid hire car available. They soon found out that a tired, sarcastic Brit who has just spent 17 hours either queueing or sat on his backside makes a mean negotiator and I ended up with this Camaro SS:

It's not a particularly special car in the grand scheme of things but it allowed me to tick off some items on a typical Gearhead's 'must do' list and scare myself half to death a few times.
Of course, when I got home I had to make it up to the bug before tucking it away for winter hibernation:

Thanks - it's actually the two remaining airworthy Avro Lancaster bombers.
I've obviously played with contrast and saturation but the lens flare is all Sigma 100-300. The shots either side were really bland in comparison...
