The K7 is TINY!

So, recently I've been looking at upgrading to the K7 from my K10D (50 000 actuations, woo!).

My friend has one, so I asked to borrow it and just play with it for a bit.

I must have massive hands, because I could not figure out a comfortable way to hold it! My K10D fits like a glove and really is a joy to work with, but the K7--while it felt solid with the magnesium body--just didn't fit right!

I don't know what to do now... maybe just find another K10D?

I'll see if I can borrow it for more than a day and see how that goes, perhaps...

Thank JPZK; I've been thinking about upgrading form my K10D to a K7 and I don't think this grip will fit on the Ky body, so I will have to pass. Thanks again and sorry that we could not work something out!

Are you willing to break up the band? I'd be interested in the grip + 2 batteries...

Vivitar 880AFC Flash

Wow! I've blinded myself more times than I can count today.

Yes, it's the first flash I've ever owned and yes, I bought two of them--I could not be happier!

Yesterday, after the final exam of the semester (so late in the season I think it should be criminal!) I took my friend to the airport so he could get back home to Alberta in time for Christmas. I checked out the Henry's Outlet centre in Mississauga and spotted three of these fancy flashes, with 'Vivitar Series 1' in big letters on the front, and a large LCD on the back. Knowing I had zero money in my wallet and even less in my bank account, I put them down and headed home.

After some quick research I learned that these are re-badged Sigma EF-530 DG Super flashes.

Long story short, I found some birthday cash at home and rushed back early this morning and nabbed the two that were left after one was sold before I arrived. They rang up at $179.99--I got the two of 'em for less than half that. :p   :o ;)

These guys are fun. Really fun. I like being able to have one flash here, another there, then the puny one on the camera to trigger them with--really getting some fantastic shots and having fun playing with the lighting positions.

One question; is this a good flash to start with? I feel like I cheated a bit by starting somewhere up higher than I think I should've.

Happy holidays!

Would be happy to oblige--here are a couple I took yesterday of the new building on campus that I shot at or near infinity, full frame shrunk to 900px wide and 100% crops of each, also 900px wide. I'm not entirely sure what to look for so if you could post what you see I would really really appreciate it. Also, keep in mind that the front element has some coating loss on the outside face.

I present to you, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology's General Motors of Canada Automotive Centre of Excellence. (UOIT's GMC ACE )

Yea, I read that, and it's the reason why the photos I submitted were all 900px wide at 72dpi. That's something I've started doing--I keep my giant, glorious originals and submit compressed versions for consideration and preview.

Thanks for keeping an eye out for me :)

It's very exciting!! The girlfriend rolls her eyes and smiles when the camera comes out, but she just got a 2am text from me to check out the site! lol

And Yup, my Grado SR80 headphones next to my restored Sony TA-F6B integrated amp! Repainted Minimus 7 speakers with a hammertone body and flat black grills in the background sitting atop a set of Paradigm 7 (preproduction 7se model) speakers.

I'm a man of many passions... and a bit of an audio nut...

I just got this the other day--I modded the flange so it could fit on my K10D and it's been attached ever since! It's a S/N #22xxxxxx and I love this lens! I'm getting better at focusing without a prism and when it's dialed in, she's tack-sharp!

Love love love this lens!

First shot is scaled down to 900px, second is a crop of the original.

Straight off the card!

Thought I'd share :)

K-7 Fire Sale?

Doesn't one enter a contract with the buyer, under eBay, where if one party cancels the other party has to agree, otherwise it's considered a breach of contract? (of which the repercussions I'm uninformed of)

Holy smokes! And this morning I was doing my homework, like a sucker, and missed this deal (if it was indeed real!).

Anyone pull the trigger and not have Buy.com cancel your order?? I'd say that's grounds for negative feedback on eBay ;)

Tamron 28-80mm

It was this exact lens; Tamron AF 28-80mm F/3.5-5.6 Aspherical

I might've answered my own question after checking out the lens database... the SMC Pentax-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL II has an average rating of 8.2 while the Tamron AF 28-80mm F/3.5-5.6 Aspherical rates at a 6.5

And brando, I don't know where you're buying your pizzas, but around here a large is $13~$15 each! I figured this lens, even though the f numbers are the same, the focal range is longer, justifying the $29 price tag.
