it's not a new one, I have been using it for about 3 month and took 8k picture
I can send it to repair center, but i don't want to because I don't know what other things will happen :o
The focus point issue does not bother me too much so I just keep it there, also I think I won't sell it so ...its ok.

DA*60 250 in door? I don't think so....
Maybe you need a DA*55 or FA50 or even FA35 for indoor.
For indoor low light F4 is way too slow

right, I believe the position of screen is right and the indicator is off.. because I found the indicator is not on the center of the picture.
I know it's just an indicator and does not mean the specific af point is off....but it still is a thing that bother me :hmm:

no never touched it...
and, the focus point indicator is just not on the center of the image, so i guess its not the problem with the focusing screen.

hehe, My feeling is pretty much like yours.
S95 wins on most perspective. Compact, convenient, versatile...it still one of the best compact out there.
The IQ of Q is not better than S95, no matter base iso of high iso.
The big selling point is the concept, interchangeable lens and looking. I think it is for people who really love pentax and willing to spend money for such a cute "toy".
I think pentax will lower the price of it when they really want to sell many, now they have no expectation on that, so...

What do you think about the AWB in Q compares to K-x's?

I was not bothered by the DOF because the tiny sensor can get huge dof by using f4. That's why I didn't try to match it.

The aperture and shutter speed are on the pictures, are they too small?
Yes, the image from Q is darker, same aperture, same shutter speed, same ISO, why difference? I really don't know.
This is also one of my question.
Can we say the ISO of Q is 2/3stop lower than the actually/real number?

updated:
I found the RAW is significantly soft than JPG output. and the AWB in JPG is better than RAW.
The raw picture needs to be well sharpen then you can get some same result as JPG,
Check out the pic below:
----
Just made it at home under a tungsten light. very tough scene for AWB and higher iso.
All from RAW to JPG.
Not very scientific but hope can give anyone a reference. :p
The whole picture
Position 1
Position 2
*-* --- *-* Compare to S95
Both shoot in RAW and Av mode and AWB. the AWB in Pentax Q is not reliable compare to S95, but can be corrected if you shoot raw, or maybe pentax will update the firmware to solve this problem.
ISO 800, used autofocus and both focused on the left eye of winnie, the S95 is sharper than Q...will try again to see if we can get sharper picture from Q.

Don't think too much, Q is just a toy, interesting toy.
The IQ sure is equal to some high-end P&S like S95 or Lx5, the high-iso is a bit better base on my test, but still some level.
Let's wait and see if pentax will put more effort on the lens line to give us some surprise.

K5 + 16-50 + 60-250
You will have the best zoom set that Pentax can offer now.
The 60-250's Image quality is no problem, the only problem is the focal length, is it long enough? or you can except cropping?

If you do wildlife in Africa safari I think the 50-500 is better, at lease keep you safe :p
For parrot or some kind of bird, the 60-250 is better imo

To me, they are on the some level but different feel.
S95 has a slim and thinner body shell with metal feel.
Q has a plastic feel (not in a bad way) on the back and front is nicely cover by some material. It feels better in my hand and more solid than S95 due to the body size.
The button on the back of the Q has a better feel when you press it, it's kind of "confirmed" feel if you know what I mean:lol:
I am not a big fan of the "wheel" on canon's camera, maybe because I am a nikon and pentax user for a long time. never used a canon dslr.
so basically both are good quality and just different feel to me.

edit:
I am a little worried about the Flash when it pumps up, I think it may be broken easily if you forget to push it back, but a good design!

Pentax finally released Q in China last week, just bought from a local dealer in Beijing, they told me I was the first buyer to buy the Q.
My Q is in white color, because I think it will be grabbed by my wife soon and never return to me...:p
Well, it is really an interesting little thing, the lens is so small and light weight. It feels so good and solid in my hand except the dial button is a little bit out of control but I m trying to get familiar.
Today‘s weather was not good so maybe later I will post some pics for you:D
Here are some pic for my new toy!
