those with the k-x, would you consider the AF in low light bad?

I'm asking because I'm wondering how much the AF assist lamp in k-r will improve the low light AF over k-x..

More Camera or Better Glass?

Here's my pov as a k-7 owner user. i too suffered camera lust after reading the rave user reports of the k-5. but after i downloaded the trial for topaz denoise, the lust is gone. the high iso noise can be easily corrected and only affects <5% of my photos.

I think K-7 is still a good camera choice if budget is a concern and you do not use high iso all the time.

these links might help you. from the first link, if you look at the white kr images closely, you can see a bit of the red kr in the background. should be enough for you to judge the color..

Can a beginner start with K7?

hi! i'm also a beginner who got k7 as my first dslr.. my reasoning was that k7 has more accessible controls which would encourage me to experiment with different settings, as opposed to entry level models whereby many functions are buried in the menu or require you to press extra buttons. i think of it as liberating rather than intimidating..

as for your second qn, sorry can't help! :)

i had the same problem as you! prowled the internet for real-life photos of the k-x and found this useful chinese website: here (the custom colored models are on page 4-7)

but i feel that colours seem darker than in snapshots taken by people in camera shops.

hope it helps anyway! :)

i sent mine in before 1.02 was out. but it's back after 2wks (with a thousand more shutter clicks so i think they did lots of testing on it) and working fine! so, just be patient? :)

p.s. i believe the green banding not as widespread an issue as the green line by the way.

same here! I've just decided on DA16-45 after agonizing over 'DA18-55WR' vs 'DA16-45' for several days.. now i have to weigh the benefits of price/size/WR vs wider/sharper AGAIN....

Hi all,

I've just bought a k7 and have promptly updated to the latest 1.01.xx13 firmware version.

however, to my horror, i have not just a green line, but a green banding halfway through my outing. (after ard 20mins of keeping the camera on. LV was off). Did i get a more serious case of the GLS?

Some points to note:
1) my shots at the start of the night did not have any visible banding.
2) the green banding appears at all high ISO
3) the green banding was only visible in my nightshots of the sky. i didn't note any banding when i shot in slightly brighter situations (at ISO800)
4) when i got home, i tried to shoot in low light and in darkness on dark objects and there was no green band.

Attached is a sample of a photo with the green banding:

Can someone shed some light on the situation? Is a trip to the service center unavoidable? :(
