Large debris showing up in all photographs.

Dang! That is part of the trailing (rear) shutter curtain. IIRC, the K-r is only rated to 50,000 actuations, but that is still unexpected.* Good luck with your Canon and avoid the Rebel models.

Steve

* Actually, that is the first I have seen such a thing on vertical metal shutter in the 50 years I have been shooting that class of shutter.

You might try fixing or selling it. A shutter module is about $15 on ebay from a salvager.

I have one of these. It is a great lens and is almost always in my bag. The weight means that I get a good workout, but I have gotten good images as well. ;)

It's a great lens. So much so, are you sure you want to sell it? Much less rectilinear distortion than the 15-30 (I have both...)

Good lens for Pentax K5

The DA 55-300 is usually the best choice to complement the kit lens:
Pentax SMCP-DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED Autofocus Lens 21720 B&H

It really depends on your definition of "good" though, so I'd recommend looking through the lens reviews and DB. All current lenses are here: All Current K-Mount Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database
In-depth reviews: Pentax Reviews | K-5, 645D, K-01 | In-Depth Camera, Lens, Flash Reviews | Camera Forum at PentaxForums.com

For instance, I'd suggest getting a FA 31mm or DA 40mm for street shots rather than a zoom.

These 2 sample pictures are awesome, and I don't think I can take any pictures like these with this baby.

Good luck on this sale.

I know this is a 6 year old thread, but for the record Ricoh Imaging do indeed seem present in India.

They have a store:

Printers, Projectors, Cartidges - Ricoh India Online Store

and Ricoh Imaging even has a Facebook for India:

Wow, nice, I love VL - they really shine when true colour tone is required. If I did not have too many nifty 50s I would have gone for this and added to my collection. All the best for your sale.

Can you ask sister to bring one for me, also. I will pay. Seriously, DSLRs in Kuwait are dead cheap, because of no import duties. I am not sure, any tax relief was given for electronics import in today's budget. If there is a raise, I will start smuggling cameras/lenses into India, through sea from Kuwait.. ;-)

Pentax-F* 300 4.5 lens fungus...worth the price or headache?

Thorlabs sells various glass elements, possibly even one that would match. It would probably be quite pricey though.

Anyone that was interested in parts from this lens on that PM'd me from this thread. Just wanted to let you know that I had zero luck with the Post Office and I'm prepared to sell the parts/lens. Not sure what would be the better route to go. I have a lot going on right now and honestly don't know what anything is worth. Lens was sent to dcshooter last year to clean some fungus and re-cement a set of elements until the front element was shattered during return shipping. Still takes sharp photos from f/8 and smaller, despite the shattered front element, but that is not what this lens is meant to shoot at, it's meant to be shot at f4.5 or f/5.6, which creates a loss in saturation, increased flare, etc. due to the shattered element...

THE Reason

Hi all members,

Introduction: I switched from Canon to Pentax in January this year and I have no regrets. I'm currently a student and photography is my hobby, and sometimes I shoot events in my school too. However, I mostly shoot landscapes & streets during my spare time (my portfolio is https://www.flickr.com/photos/alwaysjerricky) and I must say Pentax produces excellent cameras for these 2 categories.

Why: I think I deserve to win this because I have a lot of passion for photography and I think I will push the limits of the da50 (if I ever won it). I also spend a lot of time improving myself to create better pictures. I believe this da50 will help me improve my composition skills as it is a prime lens and I have to learn to move my camera to capture the shot I want. Moreover, the wide 1.8 aperture is really useful for me when I'm shooting events, especially at night. Lastly I will put this lens to good use and make ME the worthy person to give this lens to :)

I will end off with a personal favorite of mine. Although it is not the best in my opinion, but I hope my pictures will get better along the way, because photography is a skill that needs constant improvement!
