have to agree about the panning. couldn't figure out why people were blurred until i realised about IS and panning. use a higher shutter speed if you are tracking a subject to freeze their motions.

overexposure with Metz flash, K20D, and 50mm 1.4 Super Tak

Hi! I've been experimenting with a 50mm 1.4 Super Tak lens on my K20D. It's in AV mode and works fine without flash. I do have to bump up the exposure 1/2 a stop to get a balanced exposure. But when I am using the flash, a Metz 58 AF-1, it overexposes by about 3 1/2 stops. I can get a decent picture by dialing in -3 EV to the flash. The flash is being bounced by the way. I haven't tried direct flash yet.

Any tips on what I'm doing wrong? This is the first time working with a manual lens like the Super Tak. I love the images I get without the flash though!!!

why don't you like the 50-135mm lens for wedding photography?

which brand of the 70-200mm lens do you use? the only thing that puts me off the 55-135mm is that some people have said the autofocus is slow.
my canon 100 2.0 was the longest i went for weddings in my prior set-up. i loved it! but i did find it awkward to have the 2 camera bodies switching from 100mm to another with a 50mm.

i was used to using a 50mm 1.8, 85mm 1.8, and 100 2.0 on my Canon set-up at weddings. I thought a zoom would be more practical instead of changing lenses and introducing dust into the camera. I loved my primes though!
I thought this lens is pretty lightweight compared to other brands though. And I've read how much people love this lens and find the quality of photo comparable to a prime.
I guess if I get it, and don't love it, it will most likely sell for a little less than what it costs new ;)

More comments please from wedding photographers who use this lens!!!

i am refering to this article
Top Reviews of Pentax K-7 14.6 MP Digital SLR with Shake Reduction and 720p HD Video (Body Only) @Pickii

i would be shooting wedding photos in churches and so i don't want a loud shutter. my canon 20D was loud enough and felt obtrusive.

Hi, I'm new here and am looking to get some Pentax gear. I am a wedding photographer in Newbridge, ireland. I used Canon gear in the past, but was unhappy with the weather sealing on my 20Ds. I've heard about Pentax's excellent weather-sealing and great prime lenses, so I'm hoping to get some gear soon. If you are selling your K-7 or K20D, please PM me. I'm from the USA and can get things sent to my mom there if you don't want to send to Ireland. I'm on a major budget though, so good deals only!
Looking forward to learning more about Pentax through this forum!
