Thanks for taking the time to explain this, Bert; very useful indeed. The layout was particularly helpful and it works well with the new Firmware Version 1.31.

Cheers,

Guy

Pentax Negativity

Well said by all and although it does not really need to be, one should not be surprised by some of the posts here. Pentax continues to produce high quality gear and I for one am happy that they do. Given my investment in their lenses and bodies, it would take a major disruption for me to move to another brand. At this point I see no reason to do so and in fact I have always felt that the Hoya merger was a very wise move indeed. Admittedly, there has been a great deal of restructuring going on of late but this is to be expected and in most cases, welcomed. With regard to some of the almost pathological negativism, whining and hair splitting that goes on at times, I avoid these discussions (and I am being generous here) altogether as they lack balance and perspective. Better to grab one's gear and head into nature where something truly magical takes place. I often wonder how and why people get so worked up over so very little when there is so much more going on out there.

Cheers,

Guy

Just wanted to confirm that the quality of this lens is more than apparent on just about everything I have shot thus far. Particularly nice is the bokeh on shots taken down a stop with very high resolution and sharpness on subject. Have taken a number of frames hand held and off tripod with collar where it is nicely balanced. Extremely well built with smooth, quiet focusing and large hood that can be adjusted to accept polarizer adjustments via the filter window. I use a Hoya Pro Digital low profile circular polarizer. There is no doubt that SR is a big advantage for hand held shooting and has already demonstrated its worth on the bird shots taken to date. It is without doubt a high quality performer and not overly heavy or cumbersome in the field. In short, it is a great addition to the Pentax lineup and a joy to use.
