Out of curiosity, do you tend to use AF-S or AF-C when mounting the adapter?
Generally with E-mount lenses I use AF-C, that's the main benefit of the system, but I wonder if AF-S would perform better with Pentax lenses. You seem to put the adapter into more challenging situations than I do so I'd value your input.

Even with e mount lenses, on my a7r iii af-s is more accurate. I have user presets for af-c for action shooting, but default mode is af-s.

FA 35 - Yes, and good
HD DA 35 Macro - No, tries but cannot find focus

55-300PLM - Yes, and fast
FA135 - Yes, and good
DFA 150-450 - Yes, but slow to get there.
Pentax 1.4 TC- Yes
Pentax 1.7 TC - The very first try it seemed like it worked. Subsequent checks and no it does not, but it sounds as though it is trying to engage.
If there are other lenses anyone wants checked, let me know. My signature contains most (not all) of what I have.
*Fast is essentially the same as if mounted on a Pentax body. Good is as fast or nearly so as on a Pentax body. Varies a bit.

on my a7riii DOF preview should be setup as follows: ILCE-7RM3 | Help Guide | Aperture Preview
I haven't done it yet. But I can report that I did flash the adapter to v05 and my F 50 f1.7 now works. But my DA 55-300 PLM is too tightly fitting - this is the adapter that has a problem with raised pins that hit the SDM pins on some lenses. So I haven't forced it to fit. I am sending my unit back for repairs and I may have to bite the bullet and buy a new unit and sell off my extra one later.
BTW - my DA* 200 is working better than before the update. It was finicky and hard to lock focus before. But I also hadn't tried it on the a6600 which is supposedly a bit surer focusing. My DA 70 did not suddenly start working with the aperture again - not on my sony's. It works fine on all my Pentax bodies. It's a really strange issue. I've also never been able to make the F AFA 1.7x work with my adapter. The new firmware didn't change that either.

Getting ready for the eclipse. Sigma 50-500 OS HSM with Formtec 5.4 18 stop ND. Mounted on a Oben Gimbal head and Benro Mach 3 Carbon Fiber tripod. Triggered with Pentax IR remote using exposure bracketing for ISO. Took a few hours to get some settings that would work right. I have not mounted this ND filter on the Sigma since 2017. Need some test shots to get everything dialed in more.
500mm, F10, 1/320s, ISO 400. I think this 18 stop filter is a bit overkill but it is the one I have and it works. It is a white filter so I have to add color back in during post.

Thanks to everyone who's contributed to this thread.
I've just ordered my one as my Christmas present to myself. Christmas day was the the 40th Anniversary of getting my first Pentax, and this is the first thing I've owned into that time to connect to a non K-Mount body. I'm going to rent the A7R IV and do some tests. If Ricoh haven't announced a K1-iii by my birthday - which falls at easter - and the tests are successful I'll buy the body.

I have the following ultra-wide lenses for FF:
Pentax DFA 15-30 --- this is the best ultra wide zoom ever made for the K-Mount. It's sharp corner to corner with superb colors and clarity of imaging. It's rather heavy (over two pounds) and expensive.
Pentax FA 20-35: A lightweight marvel, weighing only a little over half a pound. Surprisingly small and compact as well. Stopped down, it's nearly as sharp as the DFA 15-30, except at the far edges and corners. Good color and contrast, but not quite in the league of the DFA 15-30.
Pentax M 20/4. Some have referred to this lens as the DA 15 of FF for it's small size and f4 aperture. It doesn't quite have the color and contrast of the DA, but it renders beautifully and is resistant to flare (although strong light can desaturate the images it produces). Has a narrower sweet spot than other lenses on this list but in its sweet spot can be a surprisingly good image maker.
Some examples, first from the DFA 15-30:

I agree, with more impact when using screw-drive. For instance when using the DFA 28-105 I don't mind using AF-C as much.
I got my Sony to get a compact body for travel, and to track the kids when they move. As such, I generally use Sony with AF-C. When I do switch to AF-S, I'm impressed at its better accuracy.
I have never given that much thought, but that's a good point.

I also shoot the same way on my a7r iii. Even with native lenses I’m more comfortable with the results using af-s.

My most missed lens... The ZA 55mm is a close replacement, character wise, but comes up a little short of the 77mm focal length. They say the Sigma 65mm f2 is a better lens optically than the ZA for E mount, with no CA etc, but I'd rather have the character than perfection. I know what I like when I see it, and your FA77 shots are great.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread. But I wanted to revive my interest in the old Takumar presets, so a week ago I have bought one of the elusive preset Takumars: the 100mm f/3.5. It's yet to arrive though.
It's hard to find samples made with this lens (I found a few on this forum in an old for sale thread, which pointed me to a Flickr photostream, see below) so if anyone has something to share... I would be very grateful. But I'll definitely put it to good use myself (and share the results here).
What I want to know is if it has the same bokeh bubbles in the background, just like the 100mm f/2.8 Trioplan. After all, the 100mm f/3.5 Takumar is also a triplet.

f3.5/200mm:
two colored preset f3.5/135mm:
two colored f2.8/105mm:
( same optical formula as auto Takumar f2.8/105, 4 elements in 4 groups )
all black version:
( same optical formula as Super and S-M-C Takumars f2.8/105mm 5 elements in 4 groups )
Takumar f2/58mm
all are very good performers!
samples I can provide mostly of the all black f2.8/105mm and the f2/58mm

here more: Takumar 58mm f2 - a set on Flickr
btw. I will be selling the f3.5/135mm shown and another copy of the f2/58mm, but only later this year, in October, once I will be back in my country - and only because I have more than one copy of each ;-)
