Sounds like Pentax is frustrated with conflicting demands of people. Can't say I blame them. Some people condemn them for having video mode, others condemn them for not making it better.
Getting higher resolution or frame rates is by the response out of the question. The hardware is limited so there is nothing that can be done. No point even pursuing that.
Having full manual control of the camera in video mode should however be just firmware. This I'd like to see as implemented simply because it would keep them up with competition early on in the video race that is happening and because its very useful.

One thing that would make taking shots with older lenses would be an upgrade to the "using aperture ring" option.
That particular option is only half useful as it currently stands.
It should also just continue to assume the lens is an "A" type lens when permitted is enabled in that option.
Allowing an aperture range to be set in the camera to tell the camera what the lens attached to the camera really is.
Yes this means the photographer has to get the settings right but that is currently the case with the SR and manual lenses anyway.
Having tested this by shorting the "A" pin on the body with a manual lens I can say it makes the manual lens far more useful.
Good exposures, adjustable aperture on the body and overall far more usability.
Option able software upgrade of M type to A type.
Easy to do and very useful from a user POV.

Pentax should consider adding a rotate CCD function, clockwise and counter clockwise for both northern and southern astronomical photography users.
No telescope required to piggy back on, just a slow rotate which the K7 can now do.
Provide a variable rate of rotation so it will cover any part of the sky and any lens. Its up to the user to find the correct rate for his/her lens and location specific circumstance.
Name one other camera that could then produce clean astronomical photographs from a fixed mount with near no post processing.
Zero competition and something that the others would not be able to reproduce.
If you want to get fancy, you could even sample first and then calculate a correct compensation vector or even go to live view and use a two reference points and do it live.
$2000 tracking telescope scope plus Canon or Nikon piggy back mounted to it etc
Or one Pentax K7 leaned off a car with a block of wood to get the right part of the sky and do the same job.
When you've got it, flaunt it.
