Hi Kositoes,
I`m so pleased that you have found the solution to the noise and that you continue to get pleasure from your K7, I have made over 7,500 clicks with mine and i still enjoy using it!. I do however agree with your earlier comment regarding the Pentax Software as it is the most confounding piece of imaging Software that i have ever used. I shoot in RAW and convert to Adobe RGB Tiff and it is a nightmare!
The version 3 was much more user friendly as you could pre-set a number of your favourite output settings and use others for the whole duration of the session. I Contacted the Pentax Helpline a couple of weeks after purchasing my K7 but they did not even know that the Camera was on Sale!

Hi Again,
The Camera Does not affect the RAW images per se, As a RAW image is just that! But the Camera does attach any info about the settings you have made to the file so that when you open the Image in the Pentax Software any corrections say- Colour balance, Lens distortion correction etc etc are already applied to the viewed image, You can see the image in its true state by clicking on any of the adjustment controls in PP and this will remove all of the parameters set in Camera. I find the images quite acceptable now straight from the Camera using the NATURAL setting and so rarely need to do very much in PP, Which is just as well because it is an awful piece of software if like me you save as Tiff in Adobe Colour Space!!!
I do not know about the Silkypix Software but i imagine it to be fairly similar in function as it is they that produce the Pentax Raw Software.
I hope that you find a solution that suits you, But be assured that it is possible to get noise free images from the K7!
Best Regards

Hi,
I too use the Pentax Sensor Cleaning Kit and i have had great results, Additionally i have rigged up a mini Vacuum using a small electric compressor and some small bore plastic tubing with the end made into a "T" shape by the addition of connectors available from Aquarium Suppliers. The bottom of the "T" forming the Vacuum end.
Best Regards -

Hi Kositoes,
Do you have the Camera in the default BRIGHT setting? If you use this setting you will find that Sharpening is added which increases Noise, If you switch to NATURAL you will find a great improvement. You could of course use the noise reduction in the Pentax software if you prefer, When i first had my K7 i would add 2 clicks in the NR which removed the noise and did not have any observable effect on detail retention.
Best Regards.

One thing that you may like to do is change the default Bright setting in the Menu to Natural, This removes any sharpening that the Camera applies and will give you much less noise in your images.
If you choose to use the D range settings to control highlights / shadows then you will be unable to use ISO 100.
The Camera itself is wonderful to use with the Big bright Viewfinder, The Autofocus is Fast and Silent with DA* lenses and the Video has blown many a dedicated Videographer away with it`s quality (Though i would rccommend an external Mic if you plan to use it regularly)
I use a Rode Stereo Mic and i have Power Producer 7 Editing software, About £35 from play.com (post free in U.K)
I`m sure that you will be very pleased with this Camera

I use A pentax Neoprene Camera Strap with my K7 and DA* lenses and i find it extremely comfortable. I don`t generally use myself as an advertising billboard but the Pentax logo usually sparks some interesting conversations !.
Very nice Panorama by the way!
