I have the 3 lenses in limited Silver and am trying to "sell" them but this news will make their price drop.
Nevertheless, I am happy, and maybe waiting for the HD for Limited FA, this will confirm FF DSLR

It is right now difficult to get the info on how to do it with ealier DSLR because the modeset file change and I think that this thread is known by Pentax Staff.
My recent 60-250mm, I cannot acchieve to switch as easy as for my 16-50mm.

Use PKteter to switch on or off the debug mode , it needs a sd card inside to use and the modeset file, you only need to write
[OPEN_DEBUG_MENU]

Probably, but the instructions are different, you need to access debug mode menu, but the way semms to be very different since the K-5

Yes, once the lens is set as screwdrive, it will always work as a screw drive lens, no matter the DSLR you use.
( I have K10, K20, K7., K5 and K01..)

It is possible that broken sdm may interfer someway, if the failure is due to a mecanichal trouble such as sticky ruber

Here, in France, the warranty is the same.
But, you are right, SDM failure during first 2 years is something that do not show respect to buyers.
I think that is why the 560mm is DC....

One idea, is that you may change the registered focal length, as far as I know, using a converter do not change for the DSLR , the final length.
So, it may be interesting to change the focal lenght of a 300mm DA f/:4 with a converter x1.5, so the stabilization may be more efficience. Also, for this example, it will help to use converter and keep using the AF

it is more "sacadé" more jerky. ( using AF-C, you can much more fell it)
The smooth of the SDM is not only bad.

Even Nikon and Canon consider that "SDM" like motors are pieces to change as far as they get old...

My opinion is that it is more "brutal" but also more hésitating, So finally, it is not really faster

By the way, the 16-50mm is probably ending its career because of the comnig 24MP sensor, so it will be necessary to improve it...

Front and Back Focus are very hard to adjust, it is useful if you have a K10d, for younger DSLR, most of the time, the regular adjust is enought. The hardest thing is that adjusting Front and Back focus is specific for a unique couple of DSLR and Lens.
