Just for giggles, turn up with the biggest heaviest tripod you can take with you.....ie more support than the N8xx's would need...

Been doing a little more thinking on this.
Yeah, I think (personally) that a 645 30mm (26mm in 135format) range would be the go to lens for an AP on this system.
28, is just that little bit too tight for the majority of work.
Then something around 645 20-22 (17-19mm in 135format) would be wonderful.
I don't find myself using the Canon 17 all that often due to circles becoming ovals as they near the edge of the frame, but every now and then....I need it and love it.
If they took that original 25mm design and were able to incorporate 10-15mms of movement on it, I'd be a happy man!

With shift capabilities.
I've just started with my Z, and if I had two perspective correcting lenses in the 20 and 35 range, I don't think my Canon system would see much use...

I recently picked a pack of 3 original pentax rear caps fromKEH
I think I paid about $11 for them. Their stock levels fluctuate though.

Have you thought about trying the first one in Black and White?
With the fog and some careful contrast adjustment i think it could be quite a moving photo.

I recently picked up a 645 and collection of lenses.
The previous owner gave me 5 rolls of 220 Velvia 100 and 2 of 120 Kodak Technical Pan 25 (B+W).
Both are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of date (the Velvia being June 2007). He said that they have always been kept in the freezer so should be fine.
My question is If I load a roll then take a week to shoot it, is that a bad thing? Or should I try and shoot the roll in a couple of days.
I've never shot with film this out of date (and I haven't shot with film for a while) so I've no idea what to expect.
Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

I wanted to tick the option for the
Tilt/shift lens for architecture, like DA 18mm/f3.5 WR T/S.
But it would need to be a * lens.
Otherwise a FA 24mm/f3.5 ltd T/S.
But this would not be so useful unless a Full Frame camera came out.
The other thing that I believe Pentax should work on is a 645 T/S lens in the 24mm(35mm equiv) focal length. I think this is 35-40mm in 645 language.
Couple it with a new 1.4 converter and BOOM. the 645 could become the go to camera for Architectural and landscape photographers. Canon currently have this market cornered (for those that don't wish to use an Arca with MF back), but the 645 - this could really shake things up.

Hi all,
I've posted questions regarding this before, but I'm looking for some further help.
My business partner and I use both my K20 and his 5DMkII.
We operate as Architectural Photographers.
I recently purchased a used adapter on this forum that would allow me to use my Pentax K 28mm Shift lens on the 5D. An easy use as it doesn't have an aperture lever to wreck the camera.
The only problem is that this particular adapter is that it doesn't set the lens at 90degrees. Its sort of offset by about 10-15 degrees, so when you begin to shift, you're not shifting the lens it doesn't move in a Vertical or Horizontal movement, but moves at 10-15 degrees off this.
So I'm looking for an adapter that aligns my lens directly on his camera.
ie, so the Pentax orange dot aligns with the Canon orange dot!
Does anyone know if someone makes an adapter like this?
Does this adapter do this?

P.S Yes we do use the Canon 24mm TSE II, but as we all know Pentax glass has a different quality, so in some instances we prefer the 28. ;)

If you want to get in to architectural photography, make sure which ever lens you choose is a rectilinear lens. Ie straight lines stay straight and Di not become curved.
I use the sigma10-20 quite a lot for my work. I very rarely shoot below 14 mm. I tends to visually distort building elements in a very obvious manner. You can get away with this in landscape shots. But imho not with buildings. Wide angle distortion becomes very obvious.
Having said that the 10-20 is a great and versatile lens. The speed doesn't matter as if your shooting building you'll be on a tripod and most likely at F11 or up. Drop me line if you have any questions.

Hey mate.
Good start. My only comment is some are shoot a little to wide, distorting the furniture. When shooting really wide think hard about your composition and how distortion may effect the image.
Shoot later in the day when exterior light is dimmer. You'll find it easier to balance up.
You can also get bulbs in different colour temps (ie 5200K to match daylight) if the scenes need you to balance the lighting temps.

If you're going to shoot Buildings, make sure which ever WA lens you go for is Rectilinear.
ie, Straight lines will remain straight and will not be bent by the lens.
I use the Sigma 10-20 and it satisfies the majority of my needs.
I would like to try the DA14 as mainly use the Sigma from 14 - 18mm.
Below 14-16mm you start to get quite a bit of distortion which is often noticeable (and detract from the image) when shooting buildings in comparison to landscapes, where the distortion can really add some dynamics to the image.

A series of shift lenses of the APSC and 645d line UPS.
Along the lines of 35mm field of views, 24, 35, 85. And if they're feeling great, something below 20 mm.
Imagine how many landscape and architectural photographers would gravitate to the 645 system.....
They could design both line ups in parallel.

Anyone know if this will be an aspherical lens?
Still great for Landscapes if it isn't, but for Architectural work it would be fantastic if it was.
I know it isn't a shift lens, but you don't always need a shift lens despite peoples perceptions.
