Tammy 70-200 versus Sigma 70-200

I have the HSM version of the Sigma, and find the auto focus on my K10d to be surprisingly fast and accurate. I'm admittedly pretty much of an amateur , but it has made a huge improvement in the number of keepers when my kids get to running. Some will say that the IQ of the Tammy is way above the Sigma, but in my use the Sigma does an excellent job.

Choosing Sigma 70-200 f2.8 CONFUSION!!

I have a Kenko 1.5 TC with the Pz contacts that allows HSM focus in some conditions. If I use it with the outdoors and in good lighting, I get acceptable results. I would say that it has the limits that all TCs have in regards to IQ and exposure/focus speed, however it allows me to get some good shots of my kids playing at the park or the zoo.

As far as I can tell, the Macro label on the title is a pretty loose interpretation of the term. It does a 1:3.5 ratio, but the minimum focus distance of 1m is pretty useful to me.

Experience with HOYA PRO 1 DIGITAL Filters?

The coatings on the Hoya is a tough bugger to clean. I got some finger smudges on one once that took me three different brands of lens cleaner to get off. I am in the process of switching all my filters over to the B + W digital pro.

I suppose If money was the biggest concern, I would go with the Hoya.

Hi. My name is Greg. I am just beginning to work on improving my photography skills. I gave up the comfort and security of the Green mode on my K10d about a year ago, but still take pictures in JPEG as I don't have alot of time to do PP. I have been a lurker here for a bout a year, but finally decided to join so I could ask questions and participate fully.

I would like to thank everyone for their wonderful pictures in the Gallery, and have gained alot of inspiration there.

:)

Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG HSM II Macro Zoom Lens.....help!

I purchased the HSM version of this lens about a month ago to replace the 50 - 200 kit lens. I looked at both the 60-250 and the Sigma. The extra stop, 3 year warrenty, and $$ left over in my pocket were the deciding factors in that purchase. I took the $ left over and invsted in a better tripod and ballhead.

So far I have been plesantly surprised with the quality of my pictures. The AF on my K10 has never felt so snappy.
