My k5 went in late sept........came back in late november. went back in december. came back in jan. went in feb. NOT BACK YET!!!!!!!!!!!! good luck!

I have a perfect tamron 90mm for sale. my pentax ring flash does not have an adapter for the tamron and I have ordered the pentax 100. pm if interested.

UPDATE on K-5. Made the second call to the repair center. Good old Randy is sending my request up the chain.
Soon Randy will say, "Guys, Rita is on line 1.......someone please send that woman a new K-5!
Think of me when you are out shooting for WORLD PENTAX DAY. Shoot pretty and pray I will join you in 2013

Thanks for all the comments, suggestions and sympathy! I will bug the crap out of them until they know me by my first breath! I love the k-5 and am just sick about the whole mess. This camera will always be my weapon of choice.................sigh. Happy New Year and happy shooting in 2012.

Okay, so Pentax says they can not replace my lemon because it arrived with a major scrape just below the LCD screen........this camera has been handled with kid gloves with not even a smudge. It was packaged well enough to ship an uncooked egg in its shell. Can some one please tell me what I should do now?

UPDATE>>>>>>>>>k5 was returned in November after being in repair center since September. DANG THING HAS BROKEN AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND GUESS WHAT? IT IS CHRISTMAS! However, I will use my CANON 5d! Honestly, this makes me sick! I love everything about the k-5, except that is BREAKS! And I have not been told I will receive a new one in it's place. ps..............it is the shutter button, AGAIN! Buyer BEWARE!

My long anticipated, much loved and treasured k5 was purchased Nov. of 2010. In
Aug. it had it's first malfunction. It recovered within a 6 hour period after doing all the battery switch-a -roos and many anxious moments. Thirteen days later, another episode. On Sept 18th, we had our third stressful event.....It was mailed to Pentax Repair Center in Az. On Sept. 23 it entered into repair stages....with the promise of a 20 day turn around. Today I was told by a very nice young man, Matt, that maybe it would be back in my hands in 3 WEEKS! Ok, so 3 weeks is not what I wanted to hear.......I asked for a replacement camera. Matt had to tell me no. Now I have 13 lenses for sale, most Pentax, 2 sigma and a tamron, a Pentax battery grip, Oh, and a really cute lenbaby. With any luck, in 3 weeks I will have a 1-year old Pentax k-5 for sale.......what a shame.......it was such a good camera. Last Saturday I had to borrow Canon equipment for a wedding shoot. My new camera will be arriving tomorrow since I was willing to pay for overnight.
I feel your pain k-5 owners. Good luck. Pentax promised to have a new repair system n place by the first of the year.......

sounds like I wrote your post.........ugh! mine was shipped to pentax repair center in AZ October 21......was given a return date of November.UGH! wish I had bought a canon!

the sigma 70-200 is a wonderful lens.....the 400 rocks. I use the 400 for wildlife and sports in good lighting, as it is 4.5 f stop. the 200 is much faster with the 2.8, tho. lighting is the key.

I have been using the pentax 1:4-5.8 55-300 at the games. do i need to purchase a different lens? (my other lenses are : 50 mm 1.4, fisheye,and the kit lens...all pentax)

Oh, my..........This is a little over my head. Let's start with SR........is that shutter release? I really want to understand this, but perhaps I need more basic understanding. Please be patient with me as I am very eager to learn.

I am over my head with my k20d, but am determined to learn how to use it. Right now I am begging for help in capturing motion, particularly in sporting situations, water sports included. I am missing so many wonderful shots of my grandchildren and need all the help and advice you are willing to share. Thanks so much.
