Hope this helps.

Is pentax planning to release a smc DA 50mm or 55-300mm ED WR

I have the smc PENTAX DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR
and the smc PENTAX DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED WR for my K20D.
I would like to have a 300mm lens that is weather-resistant since i live in Northwest Oregon and we get a lot of rain.
Is pentax planning to release a smc DA 50-300mm ED WR or smc DA 55-300mm ED WR ?

I would love to have the smc PENTAX DA Star 300mm F4 ED(IF) SDM, but $1100 is a lot of coin.

I was thinking along the lines of the smc PENTAX DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED that they would put weather-resistant seals in and i would have a smc PENTAX DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED WR.

I would hate to buy the smc PENTAX DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED only to find that the WR version is in the works or on the way.

Pentax 540 FGZ vs. Metz 58 AF-1

I have been looking at the pentax AF540 and the Metz 58 and was leaning towards the metz
flash untill i saw the price of the auxilary power pack. It cost as much as the flash, But if you just plan on using AA batteries the price difference between the flashes is only $15.00
Prices at B & H for the flashes are as follows: pentax 540 is 384.95 and the Metz 58 is 399.99
The reviews i have read off and on this site say go with the Metz, because it has the most
features. The only fault i have found is that the Metz has this problem:
"Metz 58 AF-1 flash unit does NOT function as a controller/master when trying to wirelessly activate a second, off-camera flash in High-Speed Sync. However, the Metz CAN be used as the HSS slave" Hopefully since the metz can receive upgrades through your computer, this will be fixed.

What is the "best" flash for a Pentax K20D?

Hello. I am looking for the "Best" quality and functioning flash for my New Pentax K20D. Of course i could buy the PENTAX AF-540FGZ 540 FGZ FLASH, but i have seen others for a lot less money. Like the Sigma EF-530 DG SUPER EO-ETTL II Flash. I am divorced and i do not have a girlfriend so i do not have to explain
where my money is going. LOL
I will be using the flash on the camera as well as on a flash bracket.
Any expert advice would be greatly appriciated.
Thank you
R

Thank you all for your help. I found mattdm's article about flashes, and it is just what i was looking for!
