The best lens i have ever owned

I'm addicted to my ZK 35/f2, VL 58/1.4 (I like it better than the DA 70) and ZK 100/f2 on the K5. I don't use my FA 77 (although I should). I'm still trying to get used to the K3 III, and all of a sudden, my FA 35/f2 is trying to unseat the ZK35.

Item for Sale
Nikon NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D AF Lens Black Used Excellent

Asking Price
130.00 USD

Item Location
Cincinnati (United States)

Item Description
This is a great lens. It's one of the sharpest and fastest lensesmade by Nikon. Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AF-D Nikkor is a secret weapon for low-lightphotography. Far more important than a fast ISO speed is the ability to gatherlight, which this lens does exceedingly well. Sharp photos with beautiful bokeh.

No signs of wear. No obvious dust on the lens. Blades are clean. Sparingly used. Always kept with a filter (not included). Non-smoker home. Original front and generic rear caps included with original box with papers.

Reasonable offers will be considered, but others will be ignored.

All fantastic suggestions above. For the money, a combination of FA35/2.0, F50/1.7 and the FA77 would cover most needs with elegance and aplomb.

To the OP:
There's a fair amount of technical information provided, alone with a healthy dose of philosophy. Both are extremely important when it comes to the art of photography. So pick an excellent lens with any mount or lens type (K or it's various iterations, M42, etc), use it to your heart's content, and move on to the next if it doesn't seem to resonate with you. If you enjoy it, you will use it..
Cheers!

To the OP: Have you considered trying the FA 35/F2? It's inexpensive, fast and sharp, lightweight, and comes with a functional hood (pardon me for for missing any related prior comment on this lens. In case I missed it...).

I have found that having a system of lenses that include focal lengths of 28, 35, 50-58, 70-77, 85-100, 100-135 can satisfy most needs (but for LBA).

Sometimes, you connect with images taken with a specific focal length more than others. Personal state of mind, mood, ambient lighting, the subject, etc can greatly influence the perception of our images at the time... That's what art is about. It doesn't have to be perfect. It just needs to make you feel a little better...

With a crop sensor, I would be happy with the ZK 35/F2. If I had a K-1, then my VL 58/F1.4 would probably be the one. Although even the ZK 100/F2 is a strong contender... Aargh... Choices, choices, choices..

NYC to Boston trip in early Fall

Many thanks for this info. I will explore this routing. I had a chance to review some commentary on the Road Trip America forums, and your routing has not been mentioned. Is there a website that declares the best fall drives each year? I guess "google" can tell me. Any tips about staying along the way for a night? I'd love to be able to consider a cabin in the hills for 1-2 nights, but I need to wait to know more concrete travel plans. Regardless, any suggestions are welcome.

In terms of equipment, I was planning on simply taking my K5 and F28/2.8 or ZK 35/F2. I also have an older manual Sigma wide 24/F2.8 (my copy seems sharp, though). These are about the widest lenses I own, and I wasn't thinking about buying anything else. I'm planning on keeping the kit "FF Friendly" for the future. I can borrow the 18-135 DA lens, though. I'm happy to take suggestions/ideas.

Thanks, again, to all.

NYC to Boston trip in early Fall

Friends, I will be traveling to NYC to meet some family who will be flying in from overseas for a few days. We plan to be in NYC Sept 26-29 together, and then plan to drive up to Boston where we will disperse on/about Oct 5. The hope is to drive some back-roads on the way to Boston to catch some fall foliage, if it isn't too soon (I hope). I am seeking opinions/suggestions on the route to take, perhaps even indulge in some B&B stays en-route, so that we could be in Boston by Oct 2. I'm open to the idea of taking a train/flight from NYC to Boston, and then renting a car from there, instead of NYC, and exploring some real interesting nature photography opportunities outside of Boston.

Thank you, in advance, for your kindest suggestions.

You guys are posting some very inspiring images. So here's my first try at a Pano. This was taken in Chicago, Dec 2016. I specifically went out at night. It was cold and windy as always, but totally worth it. I need to learn how to straighten the horizon if possible. I was standing off to one side, so I'm not sure if how easy that will be... I guess I need more practice... :)

Tas, do you have any idea if your experience with the K-1 and fast MF lenses is pretty consistent with what others say? Does focus peaking really fall short??

I went the same route for my K-5, and the S-type screen did wonders for my MF lenses. I appreciate your feedback on the issue of MF with the K1. I'm finding it hard to consider the upgrade since I don't use AF lenses. I think I will hold on to the K-5 for now, and resist all temptation.
