I don't remember the date, but this Sunset was taken with my first "real camera". I bought a K1000 in 1977 and took to shooting a lot of slide film (Ektachrome, I think)

K3 sample shots ... post here !

All of that wonderful advice aside, I think it's a great photo!
I'd be glad to just have the opportunity to get it. I've been shooting Pentax's cameras and lenses since 1978 when I
got my first K1000 and post processing just was not available. I took a lot of shots of the same subject (now called "bracketing") to be sure to get the shots I wanted. I have a K-3 now and I still do it, being much less expensive with digital and all. My only suggestion would be to take a few extra shots but like I said... I'd just be Glad to get The photo at all rather than be worry about processing. But that's just me I guess. 😀

I have been busy for about a year, so I'll sum this up. During this time I have sold all my lenses, acquired new lenses, sold lenses, Gave my K20 to my grandson and bought a K-3. I now have 4 lenses- Tamron 90mm SP Di macro, Sigma 70-300 mm Macro @300 APO, Sigma HSM 18-50mm 1:2.8-4.5, and a Pentax 35mm 1:2.8 Macro limited. The desktop computer has a 1tb hard drive and I took out the 8gb of ram and stuffed 32 gbs of ram back in (now it's at full capacity) Of course I had to have new speakers and a 27" monitor to go with my 19" monitor. W.ell, that's what I've been up to in the last year.

It's almost like we've been holding our breath all these years and finally, looking at your K-1 with a Pentax 200 on it brings us to a new reality that opens photography for the Pentax users to a whole new set of doors. Very NIce!

Did I hear somebody mention Speedwells over on the West coast? Hey there Larry (crewl1), I knew they could be found most places around here, but I didn't even imagine them being in LA! (beautiful shots by the way! oh, and yours too Tom!)
Here's a shot of some in my front yard just before I mowed the grass for the first time this year. I told my wife that I was letting the grass get a good head-start and you'll never guess what else was growing......

Speedwell shot with a Lentar 35mm f2.8 M42 lens mounted on my Tamron F 2x converter,

That would be this rig...

Cheap Flash

Hi there Tom!
I have a pair of AF280T's that I've had very good results using them with my K10D. They have an exposure sensor right inside of them
which, for me, has always given me great exposures (in the green and orange auto modes). They also have
tilt and swivel just like the "big boys". There are several on ebay right now that range from 50 to 68 dollars as "buy it now" prices and also one that needs a starting bid of 25 bucks that has no bids yet. If I were writing a review about the 280s, I would give them, at the very least, "8"s (no P-TTL, and limited flash "area"
BUT , I recently (about 2 weeks ago) plunked down $146.50 (+ 6 bucks for shipping) for a Metz 48 AF-1 and I can
wholeheartedly recommend this one if you plan on using flash more than you have been. If I say that the 280's are great, then the metz is just
plain Crazy Great:cool::D. As far as range goes the 280's don't really reach that far but within about 20 feet they're good. I shot one of my
granddaugter's Basket ball games a couple days ago with the Metz and it lit up half of the gym! Lillian actually asked me to quit shooting it because it was a distraction 'cause she could tell everytime I took a photo. Which was okay on a counta I had my smc A 1.4/50 with me and used it for the rest of the game. The AF48 works good up close also, especially good when using the the tilt/swivel features.
I've seen a lot of your photos and they are most definitely great shots! I'd hate to see you disappointed using any of the "over there, yeah that place" offerings. I'm not saying that you actually, definitely would be disappointed because I have no experience with them. As a matter of fact, you pretty much know about my experience with digital SLR's. In the past I've had an AF240FT, an AF330FTZ, and an AF400FTZ that are great also(not to mention my old, late 70's Focal brand or the Promaster from the same era) but Ifound them lacking when I switched from film to digital. oops, almost forgot, the 280 has a little brother called the AF200T which has the "auto" modes and can be manually adjusted to give from 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, and full. I use one of them ball head flash & umbrella holders to give it tilt and swivel.
If there is a church close by they might let you check out the lighting, although the lighting where you are going may be a little or a lot different.
All of this is IMHO of course!:)

Need help - battery grip

Get someone to hold the camera very solidly. VERY SOLIDLY. Use both hands and get a thumb/finger nail into the notches on the wheel and apply solid, steady, and strong force (hence the "hold the camera steady") and turn. If necessary, take a breath and try again. I put my battery grip on my K10D too tight the first time I put it on and that's how I got it loose. It took a couple trys but it came loose.
Needless to say, I only tighten it till it stops now rather than cranking it down.

This is great! Now I can get to the beginner's help section much quicker!
Seriously. That's how I found Pentax forums in the first place-I was looking for answers and "bang!" here they were. I'm still looking for answers all the time, sometimes I'm even looking for answers to my answers, and then there are times.....
;):):p:D:lol:
