I saw an old thread on this, but seems silly to resurrect a 5 year old thread....
my *ist DL won't hold the Time and Date - after a few minutes of being off it disappears, even with brand new batteries installed.
I'm assuming there is a coin cell battery somewhere, but I can't find reference to it in my manual. Anybody have any thoughts?
Thanks!

Surprisingly enough, I didn't take a full body pic... :) I have several emblem shots, and one of the engine... but there were so many people, I didn't even bother with a full car shot...
Sorry :(

I voted for you.... Getting in early or late isn't as big a deal as you might think - I was in the first 10 or 20 entries and you are already ahead of me...
I think advertising and "feel-goodness" I think has a lot to do with it....
If you are so inclined, you can vote for me as well Name Your Dream Assignment :: Beauty and Majesty of a Sport and a Country
You can vote for more than one :)
Also - if you are not in the US, you can still vote, and they are planning a second competition later that you will be able to enter...

I'll give a vote to the Kata 3n1-20
I carried the K20D+grip with Sigma 17-70 mounted, DA50-200, FA28, F50, 540 Flash w/diffuser in the lower compartment. Extra batteries and memory cards in the side pockets, and lunch in the top.
There are really only 2 things I wish it had - a mesh water bottle holder... and some way to strap a tripod on....
Otherwise, its been perfect for me...
And the rain cover works great... stood out for several hours in the rain - no worries...

here is the text of my assignment:

Beauty and Majesty of a Sport and a Country
To capture everything about the event that is the Tour de France. The cyclists at their best and worst, the energy of the fans who line up a week in advance to see their heroes, and the beauty and history of the host country, France.
My dream assignment would be to combine 2 of my passions, photography and cycling: to go to France for the month of July and capture the entirety of the Tour de France.
I imagine following the race day by day for the 3 week event. Some days I would be at the start of the stage, some in the middle along the road, some at the end, and if possible, many at more than one location. Each location provides a different opportunity.
Around the starting area, seeing the riders as they warm up for the day's ride. The fans as they try to catch a glimpse of their favorite rider or team before the start, hunting autographs or a quick snapshot. The bright colors of the teams on the starting line. The rider in the 'maillot jaune' (Yellow Jersey), leading the event and his team surrounding him up front. The other leaders jerseys as well, the Polka Dots, the Green Points jersey, and the White young rider jersey. The starting area has an energy that begs to be captured and shared.
During the middle of a stage, capturing the riders out on the open roads of France, on the flat lands, or climbing a mountain. Seeing the effort they are expending to get to the finish. I would as envision capturing the amazing countryside and villages of France along the route. The fans along the side of the road, some of them waiting for a week or more to see their rider come by, painting the riders names on the pavement to show support - They all have a story to tell. I would attempt to capture that story in images.
At the end of a stage, capturing the finish of the day. Maybe a sprint finish, with the fastest guys in the world battling it out over 200 meters. Maybe a mountain top finish, with the strong climbers leaving everyone else in their dust. Or maybe the break-away succeeds that day, with a few lone riders stealing a win from the peloton. The excitement of the crowd and the joy of victory for the rider crossing the line first.
At the time trial, seeing each rider coming by, one at a time, nobody to race but the clock, seeing the effort it takes to keep pushing when their body tells them 'no more!'.
In Paris, on the final day - the Champs-Élysées - filled with fans, the riders making circuits around the most famous racing streets in the world. Seeing that final champion don the Yellow Jersey and celebrate a most amazing accomplishment.
So that is my dream assignment. The most revered and famous cycling race in the world. Arguably the greatest endurance athletes around. Some of the craziest fans and spectators. And a beautiful country with so much scenery to provide.

Depends on who you call famous I suppose.. I assume most people know they guy in the foreground is Lance Armstrong, but the guy on the right of the frame is Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, and the guy on the other side is Andrew Messick, the president of AEG Sports, who puts the race on....

Spent 4 days with the Tour of California bike race this year... I was contacted by a cycling website, London Cycle Sport 2008 before the race and wanted to get some gear shots of the big cycling teams/riders - this worked into a press pass for the race... most excellent!! :)
I've posted several shots on flickr...
Shots from the pre-race Press Conference: 2009 Tour of California Pre-Race Press Conference - a set on Flickr
Some famous guy
From the Prologue in Sacramento 2009 Tour of California - Prologue - a set on Flickr
George Hincapie from Team Columbia High Road
From Stage 1 - Davis to Santa Rosa. I got *really* wet on this stage. Stood out in the rain for several hours. Created my own camera cover out of a plastic space-saver ziplock bag. The weather reduced the ability to get any decent shots.... 2009 Tour of California - Stage 1 - a set on Flickr
Christian Vandevelde at the starting line
From Stage 2 - Sausalito to Santa Cruz. I got a great spot on the Golden Gate bridge where a gate was unlocked. After the cops went by, I opened the gate and stuck my head/camera out into the roadway... still got very wet. Went to Santa Cruz where we actually stayed sort of dry. 2009 Tour of California - Stage 2 - a set on Flickr
The stage winner, Thomas Peterson
Stage 3 - San Jose to Modesto. I started at the top of the Sierra Road, booked it to the next climb @ Patterson Pass, and the made it to the finish in Modesto. 2009 Tour of California - Stage 3 - a set on Flickr
Winner Thor Hushovd
Great experience.. wish I could have kept going with the tour all the way to San Diego, but alas, I have to do some work to pay the bills :) There's always next year!
All shots with the K20D, most with DA50-200, some with Sigma 17-70 or 70-300

Is nobody interested in a very nice MZ-S?? Make some offers :) I'm a reasonable guy. This is a great film camera (if you are into that sort of thing) and a very nice lens. Not many film lenses start out at 17mm :)

Updated....
as is the Cable Switch F (not for the MZ-S) and several filters.
I have for sale a bunch of stuff I bought to get a few items, but a lot more came with it. It all is is good to excellent shape, although I haven't used it. Paypal preferred, but will entertain other forms of payment. All prices negotiable :) Will ship worldwide with arrangement. Buyer pays actual shipping costs. Will combine shipping if multiple items purchased. SOLD!! Pentax MZ-S film body: $400. Not much to say about this one - one of the best film cameras Pentax ever made. I haven't shot any film thru it but it powers on just fine and looks very clean. Comes with original manual.
Sigma 17-35 Aspherical EX: $175. [/B] SOLD! This looks to be the standard lens that was used on the MZ-S. Excellent shape. Hood and both caps included. For those of you who haven't seen 17mm in a full frame 35mm viewfinder - wow! This is a great wide-angle zoom lens.
Tiffen 82mm HAZE-1: $25. SOLD! This is mounted on the 17-35. Excellent condition. Pentax Cable Switch F still in the box - wired remote (turns out its not for the MZ-S, but for SF, Z/PZ and other MZ series cameras). Don't have a picture at the moment... can get one if needed. $15.
Other filters...
Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizer - $20
Quantaray 58mm Linear Polarizer - $15
Tiffen 58mm 80A - $5
Hoya 58mm Diffuser - $5
Hoya 58mm Red 25A - $15
B+W 58mm UV-Haze F-Pro - $15
Since the major items in this listing are sold, I'm going to close this thread out and start a new one with the other items...
