Can anyone please help me? I would like to know the difference between Aperture and Photoshop.
Can you add layers and masks with Aperture/Adobe Lightroom/Adobe Elements. I am in the market for some new post processing software to go with my brand new Mac.
Can anyone suggest anything? I am currently using GIMP as it is free but is also limited. I would like to try and keep the cost down but would also like the option of adding layers and being able to create masks.

Thank you so much. I have GIMP at the moment but thinking of getting Photoshop. As I am an amateur what version of Photoshop would be best to get? Does anyone have a tutorial that would explain how to combine multiple exposures in GIMP?

Well I have attached a few photo's of what I meant. I hope they are okay and I hope someone can explain how to get as much of the picture correctly exposed to show the blue sky and the other features.

Hi There,
I'ms sure this has happened to a few people. I was out taking some photos and took this one that was just perfect. After reviewing it on the Camera LCD screen I accidentally hit the delete button. Is there anyway of retrieving the image with a special program or anything. I have a MacBook Pro and the picture is on an SDHC Card.
Thanks
Matt

Okay thanks for the replies.
I have just looked on the Tamron website and am a little confused. What are the difference between the tele-photo zooms and the Tamron 70-300 LD Di macro. As I am looking to use this lens for sports photography would the Tamron 70-300 LD Di macro be suitable. I only ask as it has macro in the title.
May sound daft but I am a newb!
Thanks

Hi,
I am new and looking for a Zoom lenses for sport photography but am on a strict budget as I am a student I was wondering of the Tamron 70-300 LD Di macro was a good zoom lens and if it was compatible with the K20D. If it is are there any limitations or draw backs with it.
If it is not compatible can anyone suggest a not to expensive alternative?
Many Thanks
Matt

Hi,
Hope you all had a good Xmas.
I am new to Photography and brought an awesome Pentax K20D. I love it.
I have been experimenting and taking loads of pictures since I got it but have been struggling with exposure settings.
When I try to photograph someone or something against the blue sky during the day time I either get the object in front underexposed with the background exposed correctly or the background is very over exposed and the foreground is just right.
Can anyone tell me if there are any work arounds whilst taking the photo or post production? Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
Many thanks,
Matt

Hi,
Sorry, when i mean Motor Drive, I mean like for example taking high speed bursts of a skier so that you can layer the images on top of each other to create am image with movement in. LIke a taking 30frames a second or something!
thanks

Hello,
Can anyone recommend books on photography for near beginners (I know a bare
minimum about Shutter Speed, Aperture and ISO but no where near enough) or online courses, ideally free and also any good websites with assignment s to help me learn all about my Pentax K20d and photo taking and composition.
Many Thanks
Matt

Thanks for that.
What is the best way of finding infinity focus on a normal kit lens?

Hello,
I have just purchased a Pentax K20D and am new to photography. When I have tried taking pictures in the twilight I have tried focusing on the area I want but the lenses just moves backwards and forwards and then when I try to oush the button it won't take a picture. Am I right in saying that this is becasue the Camera can't actually focus on anything.
In that case if I select manual focus and the object is to dark or all of one colour to see if I have manually focused on it correctly how can I make sure the picture will come out in focus when I review it.
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks
Matt

Hello,
As a newbie to photography I have been avidly reading up on exposure, aperture, ISO and various other things.
I came across an article about using the Light Meter on the Camera. I was wondering if anyone could explain how to do this on a Pentax K20D and explain the significance of doing this.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if there was any difference in the wideness of the shot with the Kit II lens and the Pentax M 1:2.8 28mm.
I am new to photography and was curious as the Kitt II lenses is an 18-55mm and the Pentax M 1:2.8 is 28mm. What do the 28mm and the 18mm mean. Does this mean that the KitII lens produces a wide angle shot.
Sorry if this seems a real beginners questions but unless you ask sometimes you never find out and people explain it hear better than in books or other sites.
Thanks
Matt

Would these lenses fit a K20D and could you tell me if they are any good and worth purchasing? I am looking for a wide angle/fish eye lens for landscape photography but as i am just learning don't want to spend a great deal (plus i can't afford to spend much)
Pentax M 1:2.8 28mm Wide Angel Lens - does the M stand for manual focus?
Takumar 1:3.5/28mm Wide angle Lens - Is this manual/autofocus
Asahi SMC Takumar 1:3.5/28 M42 Pentax Lens - Is this manual/autofocus
SIGMA AF 28-80MM LENS FOR PENTAX AF CAMERA
PENTAX TAKUMAR F 28-80MM F3.5-4.5 AF LENS
Many thqanks

I have been offered a Pentax K20D for $640 with the lens kit, with 12965 shoots/shutter activations. Do you think this is a good deal?
What would you say would be a desirable shutter activation number for a second habd camera?
Thanks
