Good day,

I noticed that the K-3 isn't on Transcends website as a compatible camera, but the K-5 II is. Does anyone know if those cards work or not?

A fast portrait lens is what I would miss the most. Like a 50mm 1.4.

I have a Revuenon 55mm f1.2. That's a very nice lens if you don't think it's to wide. Recommended.

And why not the 70mm 2.4 Limited, it's a bit cheaper than the 77mm.

Hi,

I'm looking for preferably the Pentax lens but the Tamron could be interesting as well. Where you live doesn't matter as long as you are willing to ship to me in Sweden but of course EU is a bit simpler. Send me a message if you have one of these.

Payment with Paypal is preferred.

My opinion about K-01 design

Young people today is more used to use the screen... it's that way on compact cameras and smartphones. I've handed over my K-5 many times and gotten the question: "-The screen is black, how do I turn it on?". If the screen is fast and good I might get used to it but personally I prefer to have both choices.

Regarding colors I would like Pentax to use only black, silver and white and have them combined in different options. The thing I would miss the most when comparing to K-5 is the Weather sealing.

Possibility to share settings between cameras?

Hi there!

Does anyone know if it's in any way possible to load settings from one camera (mainly thinking about the K-5) into another in some way? If not I would like to see it in a new firmware :)

The menu options is rather limitless and if a camera gets broken, stolen or if a user/family would like to have more than one it would be a very nice feature. It would also be nice when for example buying a new one and getting help from more experienced users when it comes to user modes and such.

Lens in Thailand/Singapore : cheaper than in Europe?

I've been to Thailand a few times but didn't find much Pentax stuff end the things I found was not very cheap. Singapore is probably better. I would recommend you to check out gizmobuy.com and maybe contact Penfor here on the forum. He's a nice guy and will probably help you out, it's an online shop but it should be possible to solve if you're interested in something.

Classy K5 Bag

No offense. But when traveling it's usually a lot smarter to carry a non classy bag.

I have a Think Thank Retrospective 5 that looks good, but usually, and especially when traveling to poorer countries I use an old looking backpack with an insert. I'm from Sweden and may as well advertise, I use this backpack from Fjällräven, a simple one that also works good as a computer bag and looks old even when new: Products | Shop By Style | Kanken Laptop

One more advantage is that I can use it as a regular backpack and doesn't need to bring one extra. But of course all choices are up to you. I've been to Thailand a bunch of times and theft is nothing to worry about to much but of course people like that exist.

Hi!

I would love it... I visit a lot of forums and it's often the most interesting category, new ideas, other peoples solutions to things you're wondering about yourself. I've seen treads like that here, but they are spread out all over the place and not under one headline.

Ah... you're probably right, I'm reading to fast :-)

In this case the Tamron is the slowest, as you say. But it's a bit harder to compare screw drive to in lens solutions given the fact that it matters more what camera body is used, and it's internal motor capabilities. It would be interesting with a test between different body's and their AF-speed when using screw drive lenses, both older and newer. I've never seen any, is it available somewhere?

It's faster then SDM but I don't know by what numbers. But the main reason not to choose SDM is that HSM is a far better AF-system when it comes to quality of the technology, micro motors vs. ring drive. It's slower and breaks more often. It's kind of their weakest point right now. I like Pentax (that's why I'm here =) but they really need to switch to another focusing system in the future. It's the main reason that almost no one uses Pentax for sports and fast action. The optics, dimensions and WR is good... but it doesn't matter is your goal is to capture things in motion. It's more or less the reason to their position under Nikon and Canon.

It depends on your own usage... what you're shooting and what reach you'd need. Personally I would probably buy the 50-150.. it lack's WR but is a better package and if you'd like the 50-70mm more then 150-200mm range you don't have much options. When it comes to optics it doesn't differ much. But that's just my opinion.

Buying a bunch of batteries could be an alternative anyhow... considering the weight and space of the total amount of panel, cables and such. For $70-80 you'll get ten more of them on Ebay. 12 batteries will weigh 1080 grams and they will be pretty compact when packing.

I guess you'll be walking during daytime and maybe don't have the time to charge for that long. During night when you have time the sun might not be up.

But in the end it all depends on how much you will use your camera during that time :)

Has anyone in here disassembled their Cosina or Revuenon to clean it? Maybe some pictures on how to do it? I have unfortunately seen the beginning of some oil creeping out onto the aperture blades and would like to clean it up. Besides from that it's in an amazing condition.

I have looked but it's kind of hard finding places that service these old lenses (I live in the middle of Sweden).

Thanks in advance.

Thank's again.

Hi,

This may not be suited in a Pentax forum but please take that as an compliment to your knowledge instead of anything else:)

I'm trying to help a friend figuring out how to make use of a lens she found for a couple of bucks on an auction, but unfortunately I couldn't give her a good answer. Some kind of odd fish-eye with a low-budget name I've never seen. The text says: "Semi Fish-eye 0,42X Macro"

And here's some lousy pictures (compared to one of her Canon lenses down below, the odd lens is the one on the right):

What kind of mount is it and if it would be used on a new Pentax or Canon what type of adapter would be needed? I've seen a few lenses made to fit on top of regular lenses, like some kind of add-on, might it be one of those? All kind of help would be very appreciated. Of course I've already tried to Google the text on the lens but it pretty much gave me nothing.

Thanks in advance, Christian

Poll: How often does memory cards break?
Posted By cofra
Replies: 23

I myself is not professional but counting all compact cameras, DSLR's, mobile phones and the memory cards that have been used in them it's around 100. The alternatives below 1% is just there because I thought most votes would end up in that area and that people in here may be advanced users that may have owned many cards in their life. A 1-100 scale may have been enough but then I may have gotten complaints about resolution in the lower parts:)

I'll say it again, the poll is not perfect... but I can't change it now:)

Thanks for voting and commenting.
