I just tested my upload speed at 10mbps. I tried to upload photos and it takes hours. I resized my photos to the recommended size. What do I do to improve the problem?

I've been lurking for some time and purchased a K200 in October. I have a number of Pentax lenses from my film days. Been out of photography for a number of years and I am really enjoying this site and the Pentax.

I have the 4490 Photo scanner and need to know what are the best settings for
35mm slides. I have many slides from Thailand that I took in 1968 and need to get the best results possible.
Here is a sample slide that I scanned.
